Game Tool Technologies are a busy bunch of guys (one would
think they were about to publish a magazine or something! ;-D
) Their most recent creation is a dynamic mission designer
for F22: ADF.
Just what can you do with this DMD? Just about anything you
can think of, including creating multiplayer coop missions
for the pre-patch version. Other than that limitation, you
can generate an incredible variety of missions, including
AWACS missions and scenarios that can last up to twenty
four hours, with the ability to rearm and refuel and see
just how long you can last!
The first mission I generated was an AWACS mission. I was a
bit confused to see that all the bases were green,
including enemy bases (a design limitation involving a
choice that had to be made), but it was cool to have a new
AWACS mission up and running after a few simple choices.
You can choose alliances, mission start time, percent of
likelihood that you will fly A2G or A2A, random factors,
enemy strength etc. You can even fly for the Soviets if you
like!
After my first try I generated another AWACS mission. In
both missions I was not in the air when I entered the
interface and had to wait a minute for take off. Then I
vectored an intercept and things got happening. I recommend
creating a mission that spans an hour or so with a good
number of flights. In my first try I generated a 20 minute
scenario and set minimum flights on 15. That left the
action rather sparse.
On my next try I generated a one hour scenario and set
flights at minimum of 35. This created a lot more action
and I jumped in and flew an intercept and a ground strike.
Fun!
My next venture involved creating a me against the world
scenario. If you have this inclination, the F22 is the
aircraft you want to be in! I cranked enemy percentage up
to 100 and chose a dawn takeoff time.
Take off was uneventful. By the time we reached the first
waypoint I was making difficult decisions. An inbound wild
weasel force of MiG 21s passed us by at a lower altitude. A
few minutes later we encountered a trio of MiG 29Ms inbound
and were forced to engage; luckily we took no losses.

By waypoint three it was light and my IFDL link was telling
me that our work was cut out for us: there was a cap of ten
aircraft over the target base! I ordered a bracket manouver
and THREE broke right. When he called his position I
engaged with TWO and we took out seven aircraft before the
remaining CAP could engage us. We took out the remainder
with IR missiles close in, still no losses.
Calling TWO and THREE to their targets we took a nasty toll
on the runways and hangars. Both three and I took hits,
THREE from ground defenses and myself from the blast
effects when I went in too low. I lost engine two which was
a concern given the enemy activity in the area! It was a
tense run back home. I got my first FUEL status warning
sixty miles from base. I lost IFDL fourty miles from base
and lost hydraulics about fifteen miles out couldn't lower
my gear. I managed to land intact on the runway... and was
awarded a medal = )

kb mission generated with GTTs DMD. This mission begins on
the tarmac at dawn. The war has NOT gone well and you only
have two bases left. Your mission is a critical strike
mission against a runway 150 miles distant. Instructions
for placing the four files are included.

kb wild weasel mission generated with GTTs DMD. If you get
the feeling its quick and easy to generate great missions,
you are right! This one is a night mission where 20% of the
world are allies and the rest are enemies. Challenging, but
if you have the "right stuff" you can do it! Oh-- beware
the missile truck on the left side of the runway ;-) Go to
