The subject of this review, Galactic Command Echo Squad SE, is the second edition of a game 3000AD initially released in 2006. It is said to update and improve upon several facets of the original, including the 3D engine, which has now been upgraded to 3000AD's latest version. It is also the first of four planned episodes for the Galactic Command series. Perhaps most notably, the developer has touted Galactic Command as being "inspired by space combat 'pick-up-and-play' action games of the good old days." If this were true, it would be a serious departure for the company, which has traditionally aimed at veteran players and those willing to invest days familiarizing themselves with the intricacies of what have been some very intricate games.
