While fun and innovative, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos was far from the perfect RTS. An array of irritating bugs and some limp storytelling ensured it never quite delivered on its ample potential. For every tense, tactical battlefield exchange and branching Hero upgrade tree there was an irritating glitch that undermined the game's quest for excellence.
It's been 15 months since Mark of Chaos hit the shelves, a strangely prolonged period for an expansion pack to surface. Such a gap between original and add-on usually indicates one of two things: there were problems during development or there's something a bit special in the pipeline. So when the latest pre-release code wafted in on the breeze a few days ago we were keen to find out which it would be.
