Set on the Unreal Engine 3-powered planet of Pandora, Borderlands centers on the search for a fabled alien artifact. Huge forces settled on Pandora when rumors spread that alien technology lay undiscovered somewhere on the planet's inhospitable surface. "It became like an Old West frontier town," explains Matt, outlining a sci-fi universe not a million miles away from that seen in Joss Whedon's short-lived Firefly TV series.
