An overview of a total conversion modern combat mod for Half-Life 2.

Ever wanted to play an online game set squarely in the modern day? Lots of mods, like Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942 and Counter-Strike for the original Half-Life, have presented such an opportunity. The latest to open up is Insurgency, a Half-Life 2 mod, whose combat pits the US Marines against Insurgent forces. Using realistic weaponry such as AK-47s, M9 Barettas, M1014 Shotguns, and RPG-7 launchers players strike out across numerous maps in spots like Baghdad, Iraq; Sibenik, Croatia; and Karkar, Afghanistan. The focus of the game, like with Red Orchestra, is on realism. You don't get a health bar, there's no aiming cursor, and one or two shots pretty much kills you. And, more than likely, you won't see where the bullet comes from when you die.
