EA Games today announced a boatload of special events and press buzz surrounding the release of the ultra highly anticipated Battlefield 2.

iGames in conjunction with Electronic Arts today announced a host of special events to celebrate release of Battlefield 2, scheduled for a June 21 release. Regarded as the sequel to EA's renowned Battlefield 1942, the exclusive festivities will start with a 2-day premier at 82 game centers, scheduled to take place around the country on Friday and Saturday, June 24-25. The game will also be featured on July 2 at WANdemonium! V, which is an all-night LAN/WAN party (sleep is NOT permitted), followed by a showcase that is scheduled for July 11-24 at 276 iGames member centers. Finally, EA Games concludes the remarkable amount of promotion with a lengthy online and in-center ladder competition which will allow players to compete for top ladder positions between July 25-Oct. 23. The best of the best will be invited to attend a culminating national championship where babes will finally appreciate you for being good at video games. Other than the babes, Intel and Nvidia are throwing in a bone or two for the winners with prizes ranging from posters and graphics cards to Alienware computers. The final prize pool estimate hovers around $20,000.
