NVIDIA Announces nForce 680i LT SLI

NVIDIA today announced its nForce 680i LT SLI MCP core-logic for the extreme gamer market sector. The new nForce 680i LT SLI introduces nForce 680i SLI performance and some features at a sub-$200 price point. NVIDIA’s nForce 680i LT SLI MCP slots in between the nForce 650i SLI and nForce 680i SLI MCPs, which had a price difference of over $100.
NVIDIA nForce 680i LT-based motherboards will support refreshed 1333 MHz front-side-bus endowed Intel Core 2 Duo processors, as well as all other Core 2-family dual and quad core processors. NVIDIA claims the nForce 680i LT SLI has “best-in-class processor and memory overclocking capability,” as with the nForce 680i SLI.
Gone from “Designed by NVIDIA” nForce 680i LT SLI based motherboards is the heat pipe chipset cooling solution. “Designed by NVIDIA” nForce 680i LT SLI based motherboards will only have independent actively cooled north and south bridges. Also gone from the nForce 680i LT SLI is the third PCIe x16 slot for future three-card SLI Physics support, however, there are still dual full-speed PCIe x16 slots for SLI compatibility.
“Designed by NVIDIA” nForce 680i LT SLI based motherboards are available immediately for approximately $200. “Designed by NVIDIA” board partners include EVGA and XFX. Expect unique nForce 680i LT SLI based board to launch at a later date from other manufactures such as ASUS, Gigabyte and others.
