NVIDIA, AMD in hot water for potential price fixing

Rumors and guesses were abound as at the beginning of December when AMD, its now wholly owned graphics division ATI, and Nvidia were issued federal subpoenas by the Department of Justice. However now it seems that late last week the true reason for the legal action against the computer industry giants is finally clear. The DoJ has accused and is now investigating claims that Nvidia and ATI (and now because of its purchase of the ATI, AMD as well) "have engaged in a contract combination, trust or conspiracy, the effect of which was to raise the prices at which they sold graphics processing units and cards to artificially inflated levels."
