With hard drives now reaching speeds of 10,000 RPM we now have to concern ourselves with our hard drives reaching their heat threshold where we will then begin to see read errors, reduced life cycles and even loss of data. It has been shown that the normal case cooling is not ideal to provide adequate airflow directly to the hard drive so some other means of cooling the drives is required.
