Bill Criminalizes Game Sales To Minors

We have talked about this bill extensively over the last few months and it seems that politicians have approved a bill that criminalizes mature rated game sales to minors. This is still a long way from being a law but it is something we all need to be aware of. Honestly, other than political grand standing, I don’t understand why this is an issue. The video game industry already has a game rating system in place and has implemented a carding policy to prevent M-rated games from being sold to minors.
A group of California politicians has approved a bill that would make it a crime for game retailers to sell or rent games to minors. In a press conference earlier this week, the bill’s sponsor, Leland Yee (D-San Francisco), said, “These video games teach our children how to kill, how to maim, how to hurt people; women, minorities, poor people. These are not the lessons that we should be teaching our children.”
