THQ and Pandemic Studios managed to revitalise the take on modern warfare videogames with the 2004 release of Full Spectrum Warrior. Originally intended as a training aid for the United States Army, FSW offered a unique gaming experience by placing emphasis on tactical manoeuvres instead of an accurate trigger finger, largely because players had no real direct control over the soldiers in their command. Despite its strengths FSW suffered from a number of issues carried across from its training assistance origins, most noticeably the length and replay value of the game. However with strong sales both Pandemic and THQ are back with a fully-fledged sequel, Full Spectrum Warriors: Ten Hammers, due for release in 2006.
