Kind of the same, but also different!

While the original Battlefield got not one but two expansion packs, the Vietnam sequel only got an updated repackaging, leading many to assume that Battlefield 2 would not get the extra love either. On the other hand, BFV didn't received quite as warm of a response as its predecessor, due in part to some weapon balance issues and a fundamentally different approach to map design that largely carried over into BF2. Instead of the often thrilling chokepoint battles, a group of people could harass the enemy for an entire round just by flanking around the fringes. Some also said that BF2 emphasized vehicles at the expense of the relatively fragile infantry. Well, Special Forces provides more focused combat, with denser zones, extensive indoor environments, and an additional layer of civilian and jerry-rigged military transportation, like little Yugo-type cars and technicals (pickup trucks with a machine gun mounted on the bed). This is a more mobile Battlefield, and generally a more satisfying one, so far.
