Game sales increased by more than 100 percent for the seventh straight year

Fresh from announcing that Steam has surpassed the five million concurrent users mark, Valve has reported another record year for the digital download platform.
Steam now offers over 1,800 games to more than 40 million account holders, with year-over-year unit sales up by more than 100 percent for the seventh straight year in 2011. Over 14.5 mil copies of Steamworks games were registered during the year, representing a 67 percent increase over 2010, while Steam doubled the amount of content delivered year-over-year, serving over 780 Petabytes of data to gamers around the world.
