Call of Duty: Black Ops PC Suffering From Lag Issues

PC players of Call of Duty: Black Ops have reported running into intermittent lag issues in the game's multiplayer modes.
According to our chums at PC Gamer, the problems don't appear to be caused by elderly hardware.
"The current theory is that it's a resource issue: CPU load for players experiencing the lag is running at or near 100%.," they say. "Anecdotally, I'd agree that the three-to-four-second full-stops I'm experiencing online definitely don't resemble a network problem."
Treyarch has acknowledged the problem, with multiplayer design director David Vonderhaar Tweeting: "I don't have any intel at this time. I am not in the office but I know they know about it."
Steam stats have revealed that upward of 77,000 people were playing the PC game's multiplayer mode over the last day, and slightly less its singleplayer. That's pretty impressive, even if it is way short of the million-plus Xbox Live players.
