OnLive has begun activating accounts for "founding members" of this cloud-based media service, as promised. The footnote on their new user notification gives a little further understanding of how this will work, clarifying the included free game is for the free first year of one's subscription, and that Mass Effect 2 can be purchased for PC only, suggesting cloud-based gaming is not as completely platform agnostic as we thought (though it's possible the reason for this is legal, rather than technological. Here's that footnote:
"You must redeem the free game coupon code within 30 days of Service activation while connected to the Service. Once the coupon code is redeemed, the game is accessible on the Service through the end of your 12-month free membership offer. OnLive cannot guarantee that you will receive our emails, or that your computer, Internet connection or location will enable you to connect, or to continue to connect, to the Service. Offer only valid within the contiguous United States and is not transferable. Game purchases are only available on the PC and Mac. Please note, Mass Effect 2 is only available for purchase on Windows-based PCs. It is not available for purchase on the Mac. Details of game availability for the MicroConsole TV Adapter will be announced at a later date."
