American and Russian veterans inform Treyarch's Cold War CoD

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be based upon the real-life Cold War experiences of American and Russian veterans, according to Treyarch's studio head Mark Lamia.
Major John Plaster, formally in a multi-force black operation unit lead by the CIA during the Vietnam War, and Sonny Pzikas, a former Soviet special forces operative, both contributed accounts of their Cold War missions to inspire the upcoming Call of Duty.
"We do our research, which are our inspirations, and we strive for authenticity," Laima told USA Today. "But we create our fictions from looking at all of this. It was exciting for the team to do something that had not done before with Call of Duty."
