Infinity Ward Still On Call of Duty

Activision confirms studio's next project is another shooter in the series.

Activision COO Thomas Tippl confirmed on today's financial call that Infinity Ward will continue developing Call of Duty titles despite the recent legal trouble surrounding the studio. Tipple did not say, however, if the next game would be "Modern Warfare 3" or whether it will be released in 2011.
"We have not yet confirmed the individual plans for next year," said Tippl when asked about the studio's plans. "We usually don't do this at this time; we are very focused on our communications right now about the releases for this year. What we have said is that Infinity Ward is working on a Call of Duty title and you'll hear more details as we advance through the year."
Activision revealed earlier this year that newly-formed Sledgehammer Games will develop a spin-off Call of Duty title, rumored to be a third-person shooter. When asked if it was possible two Call of Duty titles could be released in 2011 and if the company was worried about diluting the market, Tippl wouldn't clarify, only saying that Activision has set high standards for its titles.
