Like a historical novel, only more so.

When the first installment of Brothers in Arms came out, it faced an uphill battle against established franchises like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, not to mention a wave of competitors who wanted to take the World War II shooter crown themselves. Gamers were getting overwhelmed, but BIA managed to distinguish itself with an extra layer of historical accuracy, a focus on cover-to-cover fighting and flanking, and a likeable cast of characters. However, the tactical action, while refreshing, was a bit narrow because the enemy generally stayed where you spotted them until they were dead. In the long run, the dynamic wasn't very dynamic, and the pathing was pretty straightforward. Earned in Blood changes all this, and the end result is looking a lot stronger.
