Team Alligator

For a detailed rundown on the comms options see the last preview. What I want to offer now is an impression of actual wingman interaction.
Slewed view of airbase in Belarus. First, you may issue orders to flights using your radio. You set your radio channel by pressing keys 1-5 and 0. Keys 1-5 represent channels per flight, and key 0 broadcasts to all flights. Navigation orders are similarly flexible, including sending your chosen flight to a particular waypoint, rally point or ARSP. You can also command them to wait on the spot, formate and follow, or go to NOE or Bob up from NOE. Combat orders include ten options. I flew two combat missions to check our response, and was impressed. Wingmen acknowledge commands and seem to behave intelligently. I watched some combat action from the wingman view and they were bobbing up to fire on targets, then taking cover. The action seems much more intense than Team Alligator, and the required targetting conditions are still realistic. You won't get an instant lock on every target, and lock can be broken by a variety of conditions. Rally Points and ARSPs Each flight in the game has a Rally Point, a special waypoint representing a safe fallback area. If you need to pull a flight out of combat in a hurry, you may order that they fall back to the Rally Point using the Ctrl + 5 command. In some missions helicopters in the flight may have standing orders to fall back to the Rally Point on their own if damaged or low on ammunition or fuel. |
"I'm Choooopping in the Rain!" Arming and Refuelling Supply Points (or ARSPs), are forward resupply points which may be specified in the mission. They are usually located at Rally Points. You may order that a flight fly to an ARSP and rearm and refuel by using the Ctrl + 4 command. If you fly your own helicopter to the ARSP and land, you will automatically be rearmed and refuelled. Damage Models Damage is modeled by system and seems to be significantly more detailed than that in Team Alligator. I took a half dozen hits from rifle fire and watched as various systems became inoperative. Finally I took a missile hit and lost an engine. I was moving fairly quickly and lost control of my chopper.
