System Cooling

Be Quiet! is one of the biggest names in the cooling business, offering up multi-award winning air coolers that have long been some of the best performing and quietest coolers on the market. While the company has expanded their ranges over the years to include high-end power supplies and even chassis, they’ve never bothered to follow the trend for water cooling, at least that was true until today.

The new Silent Loop series comes in three sizes, 120mm, 240mm and 280mm, featuring all the usual attention to detail we’ve come to know and love from be quiet! and that gives us a lot of hope that these new coolers will be some (if not the) best coolers in their respective price ranges.

In today’s review, I will be taking a look at the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Maker 92, a dual-fan, all-in-one liquid cooler. At first, it seems to redefine what to expect from an AIO. The radiator and fans are mounted much in the same way as a tower cooler. I will give Cooler Master credit here since this is definitely an interesting design. It may not be pretty, but definitely is interesting.

Heatsink designs are driven by the fundamental principle that a larger surface area equates to better heat dissipation than a smaller area. Factoring in componential consent, modern aftermarket CPU tower heatsinks had to get creative to compensate and dial-in the efficiency needed, hence the rise of dual-tower cooler designs. By isolating the two ends of the heatpipe set into two separate fin arrays, the active cooling fan can cool faster due to the smaller area. Dual-tower design also results in better performance with two fans since it is pushing cool air into relatively the same fin array size rather than relegating one of the fans to simply pulling hot air. This dual-tower design is utilized in one of Scythe’s latest tower cooling solution called the Fuma.

With their seemingly endless popularity in the air cooling market, such as the legendary 212X, as well as their high-quality AIO coolers, we have been eager to see what they come up with next. Introducing the MasterLiquid series, which features their own unique FlowOp technology, a 100% Cooler Master designed pump, a new radiator design, brand new fans and more, the MasterLiquid is one of the most interesting AIO coolers we’ve had in the eTeknix office for a long time. We’ve got the 240mm model in for testing today, which features an aluminum radiator design, and comes with two very high-quality 120mm fans which promise low noise and good airflow for the MasterLiquid.

Eisbaer? What!? Try pronouncing it like ‘Ice Bear’ and it’ll make a whole lot more sense! It could be written as Eisbär, to confuse native English speakers more, but thankfully it is not. It translates to ‘Polar Bear’ in German, which Germany is exactly where Alphacool is stationed. First shown off at Computex 2016, today Alphacool is taking the wraps off of the Eisbaer AIO Liquid CPU Cooler and we have one for review! Alphacool has worked with various partners in the past, such as Fractal Design, ASUS, Sapphire, and even Cooler Master, designing cooling solutions for their various needs; they’re actually quite the one-stop-shop for water cooling products for everyone. This is a pretty neat looking cooler, so let’s hope the performance is as good as the looks.

Silverstone has a whole lot of focus on PC accessory footprints and its latest “smaller is better” mantra seems to be working for it. Today we are reviewing another Tundra Series All-In-One CPU cooler. This time is a single fan radiator design that promises to be thin enough to stick just about anywhere. The TD03-Slim is designed for people with the smallest of systems that have the least amount of space. EK is back and this round with a massive 360 Predator series liquid cooler. We test the Predator 360 on a Core i7 4790K processor and will add a Radeon R9 Nano to the all-in-one liquid cooling loop. The end result is terrific as even overclocked our graphics card would not even pass 40 Degrees C. The nice thick radiator, proper tubing and an excellent water-blocks that are pre-filled and fitted kit are downright terrific.
