rising-storm2-vietnam-logoQuality-Of-Life Updates and Performance Improvements Top Priority List for Popular Shooter’s First Update

Tripwire Interactive today released the first patch for its recently released tactical shooter Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, which has been a critical and commercial success since launching on May 30. Version 1.01 of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam contains a host of changes to the game inspired by player feedback, and an extensive list of bug fixes, also brought to the attention of the developers by the game’s committed community. General Changes & Updates in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam version 1.01:

Gameplay

  • Changed the way tiebreakers work on Territory mode – now the team which captures the most points will win in a tiebreaker situation, not the team with more points.
  • Made it vastly easier to pick up dropped weapons
  • Now by default, sprinting from prone will no longer return the player back to the prone stance when the player stops sprinting. You can change this setting in the gameplay options
  • Various tweaks to various weapons’ collision, correcting the distance to walls at which certain weapons ‘lower’
  • Reduced player movement speed while climbing ladders
  • Reduced friendly fire penalties for commanders
  • Increased the default pre-round delay from 10 seconds to 30. FYI, this will reset all servers to this new default time.
  • Various tweaks to the order in which some items are listed in the inventory
  • Tweaks to mouse sensitivity when using iron sights after adjusting slider values in settings

Maps

  • Removed one specific tree from the landing zone in An Lao Valley, per a request from Reddit user SprayAndPlay. We agree with you, sir!
  • Added more solid cover to Objective A on Cu Chi
  • Improved the lighting inside Objective B on Compound
  • Extended artillery protection zones to cover the entirety of the US spawns on Hill 937

Art

  • Added a red tunnel preview mesh which displays during the cooldown following the destruction of a spawn tunnel
  • Improved the mesh for destroyed squad tunnel. Destroyed tunnels will very much look destroyed now
  • Improved the animations when sprinting with grenades to avoid ‘foot sliding’
  • Improved the third person animations for sprinting uphill with a sniper rifle equipped
  • Improved the saturation and readability of the overhead maps
  • Added an idle pose to the SVD when the magazine is empty, preventing the bolt handle from sliding forward incorrectly
  • Bullet decals now stay on objects and surfaces on all maps for longer across all graphics settings

GUI

  • The ‘After Action Report’ has been modified to show separate round end and match end slates. This makes it less confusing on which team exactly won
  • Enlarged the ‘Change Camera’ text on the spectator view

Audio

  • Updated the AK single fire sound to more closely match the full auto fire mode
  • Updated the sound of the Bird Dog recon plane
  • Improved the attenuation of grenade bounce sounds
  • Added a different landing sound for smoke grenades. As such, players will now be able to discern, audibly, between grenade landing sounds

Player Vote Kick System

  • Vote kicking is now default to Team-Only. This means that by default, servers will allow vote kicks only for members of your own team

rising-storm2-vietnam-logoTripwire Interactive Announces Special 10% Off Sale and Double XP Event for the First Week

Tripwire Interactive is pleased today to announce the release of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam on PC. The highly-anticipated sequel to the smash hit Rising Storm hits the Steam store at 10:00 AM Pacific Time today, and though the Standard Edition will normally be available for $24.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition priced at $29.99, both editions are 10% off through June 6.

Check out the new Rising Storm 2: Vietnam launch trailer here.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam has grown out of all we’ve learned over the years in the Red Orchestra franchise. The weapons, the gameplay, the look – all coming together to generate a really immersive, visceral experience that will keep drawing people in.” said Alan Wilson, Product Director for Tripwire. “The AMG crew have all the experience of designing for asymmetric warfare from the first Rising Storm and, this time, we went through multiple beta waves to gather feedback from the players, act on that feedback and really hone the game to what the players wanted. We’ll continue to do that post-release as well, with a series of upcoming updates – new factions, new gameplay and more. As always with Tripwire, it will be free to everyone who owns the game.

In addition to the first week sale, early players of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam will also be lucky enough to enjoy double XP for the first week of release. The Shake and Bake Double XP launch promotion will run through June 6 as well, and grant all owners of the game double experience points as they play during the first week of the game’s release.

At Antimatter Games we’re immensely proud of the work we’ve done on Rising Storm 2,” said Jack Hackett, Producer at Antimatter Games. “We’ve taken what we learned from the first Rising Storm and blended that with the unique opportunities that the Vietnam setting offers to create something that we think is truly special. It’s been a fun journey, and we’re grateful to Tripwire for trusting us to put a fresh spin on the series.

Of course, we couldn’t do it without the support and feedback of our fantastic community,” Hackett continued. “They’ve already helped shape the game throughout the Beta, and I can’t wait to see them take it even further with mods and custom maps after release.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam recently held it’s final (7th) closed beta test wave, which focused on another round of bug fixes and balance tweaks based on beta tester feedback from the previous 6 waves. Beta testers have now fallen back to the rear while we await official deployment of the Antimatter Games / Tripwire Interactive / Iceberg Interactive Vietnam War-themed multiplayer tactical FPS, currently scheduled for Q2 2017.

The work the devs have put into RS2V between the beta waves is astounding, to say the least. The list is way too massive to list here, but you can read the changelog for all the details. After my enlistment time in the 7th beta wave, I can emphatically say that RS2V will be a significantly better run through the jungle than anything previous.

rising-storm2-vietnam-logoNew Trailer Shows off Helicopters, Highlights Asymmetrical Gameplay for Vietnam War Shooter

Tripwire Interactive has released a brand new trailer highlighting the air power that United States Armed Forces will have at their disposal in their upcoming tactical FPS, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The sequel to the smash hit Rising Storm, PC Gamer’s 2013 ‘Multiplayer Game of the Year’, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam will be published by Tripwire Interactive, and is currently being developed by Antimatter Games, the same team that created the award-winning innovative asymmetric gameplay of the original Rising Storm.

Today’s brand new trailer features three helicopters which can be piloted by players during matches in action. The all-purpose and iconic UH-1H Iroquois, nicknamed the “Huey”, functions as both a transport, carrying up to 6 passengers around the battlefield, or a mobile spawn point for U.S. Armed Forces, bringing with it two M60 door guns to provide cover for teammates below. Battlefield tacticians will likely favor the OH-6 Cayuse, nicknamed the “Loach”, for its ability to quick recon the map and the ability to use commander abilities from the cockpit. The final helicopter, the AH-1G, nicknamed the “Cobra”, brings down the heavens with its arsenal of weapons, including two FFAR rocket pods, a 20mm M195 auto-cannon, a 40mm grenade launcher, and a front-mounted minigun.

To celebrate the new trailer release, all of the previously released games in the Red Orchestra/Rising Storm series are currently 75% off on Steam. The sale ends on Monday September 5th at 10AM PST / 1PM EST. Click here for more information.
