4A Games announces a May 6th release date for the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition, saying the ray traced version of the first-person shooter will be available for Windows via the Epic Games Store, GOG.COM, the Microsoft and Steam. For those who already own the original version, the Enhanced Edition is a free upgrade. The post includes a FAQ and this overview:

It offers additional Ray Tracing features including Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and support for the much requested DLSS 2.0 on NVIDIA hardware, which offers sharper image details and increased framerates and display resolutions. Further collaborating with NVIDIA, this update improves our existing Ray Traced Global Illumination tech innovated with the original release of Metro Exodus to make every light source fully Ray Traced, and implements our Ray Traced Emissive Lighting tech from The Two Colonels throughout the game.

This upgrade is so extensive, it will require a Ray Tracing capable GPU as the minimum spec, and will be delivered as a separate product – it is not a simple ‘patch’ to the base game – instead it will be offered as an extra entitlement to all existing Metro Exodus PC players.

This edition of Metro Exodus can only run on Ray Tracing capable hardware; check out our Recommended PC Specifications chart to see what kind of performance you can expect.

sniper-ghost-warrior-contracts-2From extreme-range distances to up-close-and-personal, CI Games’ setting for SGWC 2 offers plenty of ways to approach your targets.

Following last month’s exciting gameplay reveal for Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, CI Games is excited to share a closer look at the highly anticipated sequel’s setting: Kuamar. This bombastic trailer gives players a look at the variety of sandboxes they’ll complete their contracts in as they snipe, sneak, and firefight with adversaries in the best looking Sniper Ghost Warrior game thus far. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 launches on June 4th, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox SeriesX/S, Xbox One and PC.

After a feverish response to the exclusive weapons and skins revealed for the physical edition of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, CI is expanding the rewards to the digital edition, which can be pre-ordered now on Steam. Everyone who pre-orders SGWC 2 will receive:

  • Marcus Tactical: A light sniper rifle with great stability
  • FFF-45 ACP Luring Pistol: A side arm with special luring ammo
  • Rock AS100: A punishing magazine-fed shotgun, that fires buckshot or slugs

Kuamar is an original setting in the modern day Middle East, nestled between the Lebanese and Syrian borders. A brutal dictatorship, led by President Omar Al-Bakr and his wife, Bibi Rashida, has controlled the region for over 20 years… and their reign must now be stopped. With intel from Control, players take on the role of Raven, executing contracts across all-new locations in an attempt to topple this insidious criminal organization and bring them to justice.

Kuamar will provide players with a variety of sniper paradises, evolving the sandbox level and objective design fans loved in the first Contracts release. In Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, there are 5 distinct maps that can be approached however a player wishes. Realistic weapons and gadgets are unlocked throughout the campaign, whilst upgrade points can be used to obtain and upgrade skills to create a custom playstyle. As players expand their arsenals and improve their skills, they can revisit each contract with different approaches to collect more rewards.

With Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, CI Games is setting a new bar for its best-selling first person sniper franchise of all time, with 1000m+ extreme-range sniping (a record for the franchise), expansive sandbox-style maps, realistic gadgets and weapons, and upgraded visuals and gameplay engine that make this the best Sniper experience yet.

Arma 3 Creator DLC: S.O.G. Prairie Fire, features a 300 km2 terrain, 50+ weapons, 50+ vehicles, co-op campaign, and more

Publisher Bohemia Interactive and third-party developer Savage Game Design are announcing today a major new Creator DLC coming soon to PC’s premier military sim game, Arma 3.

S.O.G. Prairie Fire will transport players back to the Vietnam War and deliver a thrilling and historic military sandbox experience on a scale not seen before in a video game. The S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC is scheduled for release on Steam in Q2 2021 and will be priced at $22.99 USD (€22.99 EUR / £19.99 GBP). People can already add the Creator DLC to their wishlist by visiting its store page on Steam.

The name S.O.G. Prairie Fire refers to the “Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group” (MACV-SOG), which was a United States Special Forces unit established in 1964 to conduct covert operations in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. This task force will play a central role in the DLC’s multiplayer co-op campaign. To portray the soldiers’ experiences in a more accurate manner, Savage Game Design has been closely collaborating with US Special Forces veterans who served in MACV-SOG until it was deactivated in 1972, as well as Vietnamese advisors.

Key features of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC include:

  • Cam Lao Nam Terrain – Explore a unique 300 km2 terrain representing the Vietnam War’s entire Area of Operations, including the Ho Chi Minh Trail which ran from North Vietnam through neighboring Laos and Cambodia to South Vietnam.
  • 4 Factions – Fight as the United States Army (including the covert MACV-SOG Special Forces unit), Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) or Viet Cong. All sides come equipped with their own uniforms and gear.
  • 50+ Weapons – Engage the enemy with detailed recreations of pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, and a diverse range of weapon accessories. Your arsenal is reinforced by deadly grenades, traps, and other special items.
  • 50+ Vehicles & Static Weapons (including variants) – Wage war in the jungles, mountains, cities, rivers, and islands of Vietnam with several variations of armed helicopters, gunboats, light tanks, cars, trucks, static weapons, one jet, five small boats, and two bicycles.
  • Multiplayer Co-op Campaign – Operate deep within enemy territory as a member of a clandestine MACV-SOG recon team in a fully voice-acted campaign that consists of 6 highly replayable co-op missions for up to 14 players.
  • 9 Multiplayer Scenarios – Play 9 new scenarios in Arma 3′s official End Game, Warlords, Zeus, and Escape game modes. The “Ash & Trash” bonus mission tasks you with flying routine helicopter missions around the beautiful countryside and landmarks of Cam Lao Nam.
  • 5 Single Player Scenarios – Become familiar with the weapons, vehicles, and equipment used during the Vietnam War in two new Showcase scenarios. Additionally, there is a mission for both MACV and PAVN that introduces you to jungle combat from either perspective. The “Ash & Trash” bonus mission can also be enjoyed in single player.
  • Sounds & Effects – Experience ‘Nam with immersive audio meticulously designed to reproduce the sound of jungle guerrilla warfare: wildlife calls, disturbed vegetation, quiet whispers of “Charlie”, bullet cracks, explosions, and the loud cries of the wounded.
  • Music – Listen to an atmospheric soundtrack that consists of rock and blues, and a cinematic score composed with Vietnamese instruments. Players can tune into an in-game radio channel that also broadcasts original Armed Forces Vietnam news and adverts that ran at the time.
  • Additional Content – S.O.G. Prairie Fire is complemented by various modules and objects that are usable when the DLC is loaded. This includes custom systems for battlefield logistics, artillery and air support, melee combat, and more – as well as 100 food, drink, and medicine items and over 150 building structures and fortifications that can be used to support community-made content and game modes.

Creator DLC is a label for original Arma 3 projects made by third-party developers and published by Bohemia Interactive (Arma 3′s official developer). This program enables external talent to earn a financial reward for their work, while players get to enjoy new quality content. The first Creator DLC, Global Mobilization – Cold War Germany, was released in April 2019 and has managed to achieve over 130,000 sales since then. Bohemia Interactive expects to publish more Creator DLC projects in 2021, starting with the release of S.O.G. Prairie Fire in the second quarter of this year.

To ensure an optimal launch of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC, Bohemia Interactive and Savage Game Design will host a small-scale, closed beta test in the next two weeks. Selected members of the Arma 3 community will be invited to report any remaining technical issues and help test the upcoming DLC on a variety of PC configurations.

Furthermore, on the day of the DLC’s full release, Savage Game Design will publish a compatibility data pack for non-owners to the Arma 3 Steam Workshop. Subscribing to this Workshop item will allow those who do not own S.O.G. Prairie Fire to still play on multiplayer servers that make use of the DLC’s assets. It will also let people inspect the new assets in-game before purchasing. Access to the DLC’s premium Cam Lao Nam terrain, campaign, and single player scenarios, however, will remain exclusive to the owners of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC. Restrictions to the in-game use of DLC assets by non-owners also apply.

The exact release date of the Arma 3 Creator DLC: S.O.G. Prairie Fire will be shared at a later time. More information about the project can also be found at https://www.sogpf.com. Savage Game Design plans to share more development insights via their social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

six-days-in-fallujahSource: Blue’s News

Victura and Highwire announce Six Days in Fallujah will come to PC and consoles in 2021, offering a first-person tactical military shooter based on the Second Battle of Fallujah which was fought in 2004 during the Iraq War. Development of this game began in the aughts at Atomic Games, but it in 2009 publisher Konami dropped support for the project due to the controversy it stirred up. Atomic expressed hopes of finding another publisher, and it was reported in 2010 that development was complete, though this was later refuted. In late 2010 Atomic was still expressing hopes that the game would be released, but shortly thereafter they released Breach, which used a cover system developed for Six Days in Fallujah, which was the last we heard of the game from Atomic. That is until now, as the CEO of Victura is Peter Tamte, who was CEO of Atomic Games when it was in development there. There’s a statement from the team on the new Six Days in Fallujah Website explaining why they think this is an important game and refuting the argument that video games are not the medium to deliver insight on controversial real-life events. Here’s a new Official Six Days in Fallujah Announcement Trailer, and here’s more on the revival:

Victura and Highwire Games today announced Six Days in Fallujah, a first-person tactical military shooter based on true stories from the Second Battle for Fallujah in 2004, coming to PC and consoles in 2021. Originally announced by Atomic Games in 2009, Six Days in Fallujah returns with a new publisher, new developer and an all-new game from many of the core leadership team who created the original Halo and Destiny games.

“Sometimes the only way to understand what’s true is to experience reality for yourself,” says former Marine Sergeant Eddie Garcia, who was wounded during the Battle for Fallujah and proposed the original idea for Six Days in Fallujah in 2005. “War is filled with uncertainty and tough choices that can’t be understood by watching someone on a TV or movie screen make these choices for you. Video games can help all of us understand real-world events in ways other media can’t.”

The Second Battle for Fallujah began in 2004 after Al Qaeda seized control of one of Iraq’s major cities. The battle proved to be the toughest military conflict for Western forces since 1968.

Atomic Games announced Six Days in Fallujah in 2009, but saw the title abandoned by its original publisher following controversy about the ability of video games to cover challenging real-world events. Victura is a publishing and production company founded in 2016 by former Atomic Games CEO Peter Tamte with the goal of bringing a new Six Days in Fallujah to players, along with other games based on true stories.

Working in partnership with frontline Marines and Soldiers who fought in the Battle for Fallujah, Victura and Highwire have spent more than three years building unique technologies and game mechanics that bring players closer to the uncertainty and tactics of modern combat than other video games have explored.

Over 100 Marines, Soldiers, and Iraqi civilians who were present during the Second Battle for Fallujah have shared their personal stories, photographs, and video recordings with the development team. The game gives these stories voice through gameplay and first-person accounts captured in original documentary interview footage. Six Days in Fallujah aims to be the most authentic military shooter to date and to tell these military and civilian stories with the integrity they deserve.
“It’s hard to understand what combat is actually like through fake people doing fake things in fake places,” says Peter Tamte, CEO of Victura. “This generation showed sacrifice and courage in Iraq as remarkable as any in history. And now they’re offering the rest of us a new way to understand one of the most important events of our century. It’s time to challenge outdated stereotypes about what video games can be.”

Six Days in Fallujah will launch for PC and consoles in 2021. Victura will announce more details about Six Days in Fallujah in the coming weeks.
