Bohemia Interactive celebrates the 16th anniversary of the Arma series with the releases of the free 5-vs-5 tactical first-person shooter Argo and the free Malden DLC for Arma 3.

Both Argo and the Arma 3 Malden DLC deploy players to a re-imagination of Malden – the iconic island terrain from the first Arma game, which was released today sixteen years ago on June 22nd 2001. The new Malden (also referred to as ‘Malden 2035’) spans 62 km2 of landmass, and with many of its unique locations having been designed to support Argo’s infantry focus, the new terrain is specifically suited for close-quarters combat. Malden 2035 features 15 towns and villages, and many other special points of interest such as an airfield, bunkers, a radio station, a goat farm, a fjord and rock formations, orchards and vineyards, a desert area, and more. In comparison to the original Malden, the number and names of the towns and villages, and all locations of hills, crossroads, gas stations, have remained the same. For those who do not remember or did not experience Arma’s first deployment to the island, Bohemia Interactive posted a new video in which someone people might know from the Cold War Crisis campaign, U.S. Special Forces veteran James Gastovski, shares his memories of his deployment to Malden back in 1985. View the Arma 3 Malden DLC Trailer HERE.

Graduating from Bohemia Incubator, Argo is an Arma-based hardcore tactical multiplayer first-person shooter, in which players fight as mercenaries over the remnants of a crashed space station. The game features three competitive 5-vs-5 game modes (Clash, Link, and Raid), and based on their performance, players earn experience points, which can be used to unlock new weapons, weapon attachments, and gear. The game also features a 10-player cooperative game mode (Combat Patrol), where players need to team up to fight against AI in an open-world setting. As a bonus, Argo includes a 3D Scenario Editor. Here players can set up their own military operations and alter or create game modes. Argo is available completely for free on Steam and will not require any form of payment to play the game. Those who would like to support the game do have the opportunity to purchase the Argo “Supporter’s Pack” at € 9.99 / $ 9.99 / £ 6.99 on Steam or the Bohemia Store. As a token of gratitude, this pack comes with a few special in-game rewards which do not affect gameplay: 13 exclusive animations for the MVP screen at the end of each match, a bundle of 23 unique apparel items, the ability to use vehicles in the 3D Scenario Editor, access to premium Argo Supporter servers, and the names of supporters are highlighted on the leaderboards. View the Argo Launch Trailer HERE.

The development of Argo also benefits Arma 3 players, who will today be receiving the free Arma 3 Malden DLC, and which is automatically added to their Steam Library. The Malden DLC features the re-imagined 62 km2 Malden terrain also used in Argo, plus a variant of Argo’s Combat Patrol cooperative sandbox mode, supporting up to 12 players. In addition, the Malden DLC delivers new structures and buildings to Arma 3 content creators, the ‘Escape from Malden’ and ‘Escape from Tanoa’ survival multiplayer scenarios, and orchestral renditions of the classic Arma Cold War Assault and Arma 3 main theme songs (music is available only to owners of the Arma 3 Digital Deluxe Edition, Arma 3 Extended Edition, Arma 3 Apex Edition, Arma 3 Special Edition, and Arma 3 Supporter Edition). Meanwhile, Arma 3 is currently on sale for the lowest price it has ever been on Steam and the Bohemia Store, with discounts up to 66% on the Arma 3 base game, Arma 3 Apex expansion, and Arma 3 DLC.

rising-storm2-vietnam-logoQuality-Of-Life Updates and Performance Improvements Top Priority List for Popular Shooter’s First Update

Tripwire Interactive today released the first patch for its recently released tactical shooter Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, which has been a critical and commercial success since launching on May 30. Version 1.01 of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam contains a host of changes to the game inspired by player feedback, and an extensive list of bug fixes, also brought to the attention of the developers by the game’s committed community. General Changes & Updates in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam version 1.01:

Gameplay

  • Changed the way tiebreakers work on Territory mode – now the team which captures the most points will win in a tiebreaker situation, not the team with more points.
  • Made it vastly easier to pick up dropped weapons
  • Now by default, sprinting from prone will no longer return the player back to the prone stance when the player stops sprinting. You can change this setting in the gameplay options
  • Various tweaks to various weapons’ collision, correcting the distance to walls at which certain weapons ‘lower’
  • Reduced player movement speed while climbing ladders
  • Reduced friendly fire penalties for commanders
  • Increased the default pre-round delay from 10 seconds to 30. FYI, this will reset all servers to this new default time.
  • Various tweaks to the order in which some items are listed in the inventory
  • Tweaks to mouse sensitivity when using iron sights after adjusting slider values in settings

Maps

  • Removed one specific tree from the landing zone in An Lao Valley, per a request from Reddit user SprayAndPlay. We agree with you, sir!
  • Added more solid cover to Objective A on Cu Chi
  • Improved the lighting inside Objective B on Compound
  • Extended artillery protection zones to cover the entirety of the US spawns on Hill 937

Art

  • Added a red tunnel preview mesh which displays during the cooldown following the destruction of a spawn tunnel
  • Improved the mesh for destroyed squad tunnel. Destroyed tunnels will very much look destroyed now
  • Improved the animations when sprinting with grenades to avoid ‘foot sliding’
  • Improved the third person animations for sprinting uphill with a sniper rifle equipped
  • Improved the saturation and readability of the overhead maps
  • Added an idle pose to the SVD when the magazine is empty, preventing the bolt handle from sliding forward incorrectly
  • Bullet decals now stay on objects and surfaces on all maps for longer across all graphics settings

GUI

  • The ‘After Action Report’ has been modified to show separate round end and match end slates. This makes it less confusing on which team exactly won
  • Enlarged the ‘Change Camera’ text on the spectator view

Audio

  • Updated the AK single fire sound to more closely match the full auto fire mode
  • Updated the sound of the Bird Dog recon plane
  • Improved the attenuation of grenade bounce sounds
  • Added a different landing sound for smoke grenades. As such, players will now be able to discern, audibly, between grenade landing sounds

Player Vote Kick System

  • Vote kicking is now default to Team-Only. This means that by default, servers will allow vote kicks only for members of your own team

wolfenstein2-the-new-colossusKill every Nazi in sight and spark the second American Revolution

Bethesda Softworks released another video for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the sequel to the first-person shooter Wolfenstein: The New Order slated to launch worldwide on October 27, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Developed by MachineGames, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus sends you to Nazi-controlled America where you’ll embark on an exhilarating adventure to free the world from the evil empire’s stranglehold. You will fight back against the Nazis in iconic locations such as small-town Roswell, New Mexico, the flooded streets of New Orleans, and a post-nuclear Manhattan.

wolfenstein2-the-new-colossusBethesda.net has released a new Gunning For Freedom trailer (NSFW) from Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Developed by the award-winning team at MachineGames, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus sends you to Nazi-controlled America where you’ll embark on an exhilarating adventure to free the world from the evil empire’s stranglehold.

MachineGames isn’t just known for their strong storytelling. They’re also a powerhouse in the realm of pure gameplay. And their latest game is no different. Announced at the Bethesda E3 2017 Showcase, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus delivers the goods when it comes to intense – and intensely fun – shooter action.

What really puts MachineGames on the map is that while we’re making really strong narrative games, we give enough room to have the proper gameplay experience,” says Senior Game Designer Arcade Berg. “It’s not that one is overpowering the other.

From upgraded weapons to enhanced dual-wielding to bumped-up Nazi enemies, watch our latest video – with exclusive insights from the development team – for a first look at what’s new in The New Colossus.

While the gameplay has been taken to the next level for the latest chapter in BJ Blazkowicz’s saga, the goal remains the same: Obliterate the abhorrent Nazi regime. Which, of course, is all the motivation you’ll need to rally the resistance and liberate America. “They’re the perfect enemy,” says Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson. “I mean, who doesn’t want to kill Nazis?

But even with the futuristic technology and over-the-top action, The New Colossus will still make you feel like a real-world hero. “No matter how crazy things get, you are always emotionally invested in what you’re doing,” says Creative Director Jens Matthies. “For this game, our theme was catharsis. So at the end of it, I think you will be ready to go out on the streets and start a revolution.

Call of Duty: WW2’s return to its historical roots is not just a sudden change of scenery for the more recently high-tech franchise — it’s also a return to a more grounded kind of shooter in general. The advanced weaponry and enhanced mobility mechanics of the series’ last handful of games are obviously gone in favor of period-appropriate firearms and movement that doesn’t get much fancier than vaulting over cover.

But Call of Duty: WW2 seems to be doing a bit more to magnify your character’s vulnerability in its single-player campaign, based on the 15-20 minute hands-off preview I saw at E3 2017. Those looking for the type of power fantasy offered by Advanced Warfare might not get the same kick out of crawling through the mud and having bell towers crumble down on you and your teammates, but it seems there are still plenty of big, cinematic set pieces to keep the experience as thrilling — just in new ways. Whether or not that’s compatible with the “authentic” World War experience its creative directors seem to be aiming for is another story. Then again, how many of us are looking for a touching, meaningful meditation on war’s atrocities from a series known for its action flick-style bombast?
