First-Person Shooters

Just like World War I got a sequel, Battlefield 1 is getting a followup later this year. The game is Battlefield V. It was previously known as Battlefield 2 internally at EA. Battlefield V will return the series to World War II in a main entry for the first time since 2009’s Battlefield 1943, GamesBeat has learned from sources familiar with EA’s plans. These sources wish to remain anonymous.

Battlefield I is a huge success for EA. It sold faster than Battlefield 4, and it has surpassed 25 million players as of December. Fans were excited to return to a historical setting after years of modern military shooters from both Battlefield and competitors such as Call of Duty. Publisher Activision also showed that the appetite for the second World War is still high with its release of Call of Duty: WWII last year. That is the best-selling Call of Duty since the franchise peaked with Black Ops II in 2012.

This is an entirely new Battlefield game and not a remaster of the 2005 Battlefield 2. EA will reveal it soon, and it will launch it before the end of this calendar year.

call-of-duty-wwiiHighly-Anticipated First DLC Pack Now Available on Xbox One and PC Offering Fans New Multiplayer Maps, War Mode Mission and Nazi Zombies Experience

Xbox One and PC players can join the Resistance starting today, as Call of Duty: WWII – The Resistance is out now. Packed with new multiplayer content, The Resistance DLC pack delivers three new Multiplayer maps and an all-new War Mode multiplayer mission themed to reflect the spirit of the citizen soldiers who fought for freedom during World War II. The DLC pack also features The Darkest Shore, the terrifying new chapter in the twisted Nazi Zombies saga.

In The Resistance DLC pack, players will fight in iconic World War II locations, from Paris to Prague, all centered around historic uprisings in three new Multiplayer maps and an all-new high-octane War Mode map.

  • Valkyrie – Located in the Masurian Woods, East Prussia, this map was inspired by The Wolf’s Lair – The Fuhrer’s Eastern-front headquarters during Operation Barbarossa – the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union. This is a medium-sized map with multiple overwatch positions and mounted machine guns.
  • Anthropoid – Based in Prague, Czechoslovakia, this map is inspired by Operation Anthropoid – the famous assassination attempt on a high-ranking German officer during World War II. This map is divided by a river, with long-flanking paths that can be used by snipers for ranged attacks.
  • Occupation – In this remake of a classic Call of Duty® map, players battle through the streets and shops of German-occupied Paris during WWII. Nearby homes and storefronts lend defensive positions for ambush and recovery.
  • Operation Intercept – Outside of St Lo, France, the next War Mode experience, developed in partnership with Raven Software, leads you on an urban rescue mission to save Resistance fighters being transported by train. The first objective on the Allied side is freeing the fighters, followed by the destruction of key communication equipment, and ends with stopping a train.

The Resistance DLC pack also features the newest horror-filled chapter in the co-operative Nazi Zombies saga, The Darkest Shore. Only days after the horrific disaster of Mittelburg, the crew has received intel that suggests Doktor Straub is on an island just north of Germany. Blanketed in fog, this island is surrounded by enemy air and sea power – and crawling with the Undead. Marie, Drostan, Olivia and Jefferson will need to battle all this and more to uncover the mysteries hidden within.

Call of Duty: WWII is available on disc at a number of retailers, digital download via Steam, or at the Call of Duty: WWII  official website.

A new trailer from Insurgency: Sandstorm shows more of the modern combat in this upcoming military first-person shooter. No need to pop any corn for this, as the clip is a pretty short 42 seconds, and half of it is logos. Here’s word on what we’re seeing here:

See a new Fire Support option in action: an explosive autocannon gun run. Fire support can be called when two special player classes, the Commander and Observer, are in close proximity to each other. The Commander first gives the order for the type of Fire Support he wants, then the Observer uses his radio to make the request.”

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5, the upcoming first-person shooter will take players to Hope County, a fictional county in rural Montana that is overrun by a fanatical cult. In this article we will discuss the Far Cry 5 Release Date, Campaign and Gameplay. For further details on The Cult, Vehicles, Guns for Hire and Season Pass, find details on gamingintel.com.

Far Cry 5 Release Date

Far Cry 5 will give players a massive open world to explore, full of realistic NPCs, tons of activities, and an insane cult to dismantle. The game was initially scheduled for a February release, but was delayed to March 27, and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Far Cry 5 Campaign and Gameplay

Along with the new melee ability, Far Cry 5 introduces many new or refined ideas and mechanics into the series.

Most notably is the Resistance Meter. Each region has a unique Resistance Meter that delivers feedback about the player’s effects on that region and its Herald. The more the player disrupts the cult activity in that region, the more the meter will fill. Once that region’s meter reaches its max, the player will have a showdown with the Herald of that region.

Because of the way the Resistance Meter works, Far Cry 5 has a non-linear campaign. This means that whether you’re playing alone or with an ally, the campaign can be played in whatever order you’d like.

And, whenever you feel like taking a break from the campaign, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your time. Hope County is full of recreational activities like hunting, fishing, or wingsuit gliding. The crafting system returns from previous installments and goes hand-in-hand with hunting and fishing.

One of the largest changes to the Far Cry formula is the intel system. Much to my disappointment, climbing to the top of towers is no longer the way of learning new information and unlocking the map. Instead, players will gain intel in a much more organic way, by exploring and talking with people.

Call of Duty: WWII generated approximately $500 million in a $104.8 billion Gaming Industry during 2017. It’s a huge industry and Battle Royale games such as H1Z1, PUBG and Fortnite are becoming increasingly popular. With this in mind, Treyarch, the developers of Call of Duty 2018 will be looking to innovate new ideas. Could we see a Battle Royale Mode in Call of Duty for the first time ever?

The immense competition between Battle Royale Games such as H1Z1, PUBG and Fortnite has been the major topic of recent times. Fortnite managed to achieve another incredible milestone last week, the game hit 3.4 million concurrent players. If we compare that to PUBG, they’ve hit just over 3 million concurrent players on PC also. Between both Fortnite and PUBG, $1 billion was made last year so it’s fair to say that it’s in every developer’s best interests to tap into the Battle Royale community.

Battle Royale Games won’t be going away in 2018, in fact even more competitors will be going head to head against both Fortnite and PUBG. There’s no doubt Call of Duty will be looking into this and how this could affect their future earnings.

According to Activision, ‘the next three year slate for Call of Duty will be the best in the entire franchise’s history.’ This is very interesting considering Battle Royale is only quite recent. Their statement could be hinting that the next three years for Call of Duty will feature a Battle Royale Mode.

Here are several reasons why Battle Royale in Call of Duty 2018 is a strong possibility:

  • Call of Duty won’t have to abandon Multiplayer and the Campaign – Fortnite originally started off as a PVE and later on added a Battle Royale mode.
  • Call of Duty will be hoping to innovate new ideas and try out potential working formulas for the future.
  • Battle Royale has made an appearance in Call of Duty Online China.

Also, for Battle Royale to happen, changes also need to happen:

  • New and bigger maps
  • Balanced Weapons – No overpowered assault rifles or shotguns we’ve seen in the past, Treyarch will have to be very aware and up to date on nerfing and buffing weapons.

With Battle Royale taking over the gaming market in 2017, there’s no doubt Treyarch and Activision will be wanting to join in on the action.

A post on the Battlefield Website has an update on EA’s ongoing battle against Battlefield 1 cheaters. They address concerns they’ve heard voiced by players and talk about current and future efforts to weed out miscreants. Here’s a bit:

State of Play: Removing Cheaters

Over the past six months, we’ve steadily ramped up our anti-cheat efforts, working closely with the FairFight team to detect and remove more cheaters than ever before. In October alone, we sanctioned over 8,500 accounts. Since then, instances of cheating have declined. While we have made significant gains, we still can do more.

Improvements to FairFight In-game Messaging

Battlefield 1 veterans may remember the global messaging that was sent every time FairFight had acted against a player. As we ramped up our efforts against cheaters, these messages became a distraction from other in-game discussions, and they were disabled a few months ago based on your feedback. However, our communication about this created some questions. Going forward, our communication will be more clear, transparent, and proactive.

Soon, you’ll see a new form of FairFight messaging. This will condense the combined bans from the last 24 hours into a single in-game post, sent every few hours.

How and When a Player Gets Sanctioned

We saw a rise in the number of social media posts claiming FairFight had banned players incorrectly after the October ban wave mentioned above. However, we are confident that our detection methods produce accurate results. Cheat developers may be attempting to manipulate players’ minds about anti-cheat tools, and to leverage detection information from game developers.

A common misconception regarding FairFight is that higher skilled players are more likely to get sanctioned due to their improved match stats. This is not correct; it is not possible to be banned simply for being skilled.

There is a recent rumour that Call of Duty 2018 will be named Black Ops 4. The upcoming installment in the COD Series will be developed by Treyarch. The report seems to have surfaced via twitter user @Marcus_Sellars, where he states “COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch.”

The full tweet is as follows;

COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.

Usually we take rumours with a pinch of salt, however Marcus has been correct on several of his leaks in the past. He’s previously correctly announced that Dark Souls and Labo were coming to the Nintendo Switch.

It appears that one company which are familiar with both previous Nintendo systems and Call of Duty titles, is Beenox. They have had involvement in Treyarch’s latest title, Black Ops 3 and Modern Warfare Remastered. Not long ago they posted a tweet hinting at an upcoming Switch port.

battlefield-2018By Gaming Intel

During EA’s recent earnings call, the company announced new features and details on the upcoming Battlefield 2018 game. With BF1 now approaching it’s final DLC, Apocalypse, the EA CEO Andrew Wilson and CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed new details on the Battlefield 2018 Release Date.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Blake Jorgensen confirmed that BioWare’s Anthem will be coming in early 2019 instead of fall 2018 due to Battlefield 2018, however he stated that ‘it’s not a delay’. According to the Wall Street Journal EA are planning to release their next Battlefield title in October 2018. This comes as no surprise considering both BF1 and Battlefield 4 were released in October.

Potential Battlefield 2018 Battle Royale Mode?

Andrew Wilson also confirmed that he wants to innovate ideas from PUBG, having been a huge fan of the ‘core gameplay and map design’. This does not definitely confirm that there will be a Battlefield 2018 Battle Royale Mode like PUBG, however we could possibly see something along those lines.
