Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is due later this month, and Activision paves the way with the release of a Launch Gameplay Trailer from Infinity Ward’s next military shooter. Despite the use of the term “gameplay,” this seems to be almost entirely composed of cinematics, set to the soothing tones of Metallica.

Pre-orders at participating retailers are available now, or at CallofDuty.com.

ghost-recon-breakpointTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is now available for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The PC edition of Ubisoft’s tactical shooter series is sold through the Epic Games Store and is also available on the Uplay +*, Ubisoft’s subscription service.

Developed by Ubisoft Paris,** Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world entirely playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to tech giant and drone creators, Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost. The Wolves, a lethal ex-US military unit of former Ghosts gone rogue, have taken over the island. Led by Nomad’s ex-brother-in-arms, Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, the Wolves have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into killing machines and are ready to use them, no matter the casualties.

Nomad and the Ghosts are sent on a recon mission, but their helicopters are shot down. Injured, without support and hunted down, players will live an intense military experience as they fight to survive, take down the Wolves and regain control of Auroa.

Steep slopes, accumulating injuries and fatigue are new challenges for players to tackle as they test their survival skills in the varied terrains of Auroa. Players will enjoy total freedom to accomplish their missions and have plenty of tactical options and tools at their disposal, including a set of new military features. They will be able to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into their environment with prone camo and set up camp with teammates in the bivouac to manage equipment, change classes and fine-tune their strategies.

Additionally, Ghost War, the game’s PvP mode, is seamlessly integrated within the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint experience. With the new shared progression system, each player will progress in PvE and PvP with the same character and keep their unlocked classes, skills, customization items and weapons across both modes. Specific tuning will be implemented for PvP to ensure a fair and skill-based experience for all players.

The launch of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is just the beginning, as there is a robust post-launch content support plan with regular updates. Episode one will bring Project Titan, the first raid to come to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, along with new Faction missions, PvP updates and the first new class, engineer. It will also showcase the first live event, featuring the Terminator. Episodes two and three will offer two new Adventures, two new classes, several PvP updates, new end-game content and various live events. Each faction in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will evolve through new narrative missions regularly added to the game. Players will also have access to 14 daily missions that will bring fresh tactical challenges in the open world.

Year One Pass owners will have access to all Year One Adventures and their rewards, including one-week early access to the three new classes and instant unlock to the Siren’s Call mission and the Special Operations Forces Pack. Additionally, Episode one, Operation Greenstone, will be available for players starting today.

medal-of-honor-above-and-beyondMedal of Honor is back…in VR!

By Ryan McCaffrey @ IGN

Medal of Honor is back in a way you probably didn’t expect. Respawn Entertainment, makers of Apex Legends, Titanfall, and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is turning its attention to one of new-ish parent company EA’s veteran (but dormant) properties. Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is a World War II first-person shooter, as you’d expect. But what you probably wouldn’t have imagined is that it’s a VR game that’s exclusive to Oculus Rift (it is, in fact, published by Oculus Studios). Its release date, for now, is the very vague “2020.”

Watch the Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond Announcement video HERE.

The new Medal of Honor takes place over three Acts made up of many missions each, and the Respawn team says the campaign lasts 10-12 hours – a lot by VR standards. I played a training level and a couple of missions. In the former, you’re taught the basics, albeit in VR. Some weapons can be held with two hands, upping their accuracy. And it is pretty neat that you can pull the pin out of a grenade with your teeth by raising the held grenade to your mouth.

sniper-ghost-warrior-contractsGet an uninterrupted look at Contract’s combat, wide range of tools at your disposal, and brand new Dynamic Reticle System as CI games takes players through the recently revealed Kolchak Harbor. Also, get an early listen at the game’s music from returning composer Mikolai Stroinski.

Last month, Gamescom attendees got an opportunity to go hands-on with Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, experiencing the new Contracts system. Today, to give players at home a look behind the snowy veil, developer CI Games has released an uninterrupted walkthrough of the Gamescom gameplay demo. Not only can you see an uninterrupted gameplay session, the studio has released snippets from the game’s soundtrack, which is being made by the award-winning composer that shaped the music of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3.

This walkthrough trailer focuses on Kolchak Harbor, one of five unique regions, each serving as a sniper’s tactical paradise where players can confront emergent combat encounters that will never be the same twice. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is a return to form for the series and introduces the Dynamic Reticle System, empowering players as they adjust for ballistics and atmospheric conditions to line up crucial shots. This is a prime example of how Contracts will continue to provide the best-in-class sniping experience the series is known for.

This detailed walkthrough introduces players to the fresh gameplay rhythm and other new tools at their disposal, like Scout Drones and the Augmented Reality Mask. For those who weren’t able to attend Gamescom, this will be a strong introduction to Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts’ new and more focused gameplay flow. It features over 20 contracts across the five regions, with those spaces acting as sandboxes filled with side-objectives and tasks to uncover.

When it comes to the music in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, a familiar face will be crafting your sniper symphony. Mikolai Stroinski, the award-winning composer behind Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with the Blood and Wine DLC is returning as composer for Contracts, and we’re celebrating by releasing a few snippets from the game’s official soundtrack.

On our official YouTube channel, you can listen to bits of “Frost”, “Contracts Menu” and “I Look Forward To Working With You.” This is just a sample of Mikolai’s work, which has earned him awards and nominations at The Game Awards, DICE Awards, GDC Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Digital Dragons, and more. We’re excited and honored to be working with Mikolai again as he brings the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts experience to life through his compelling compositions.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will launch in November 22, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. For more information about the Sniper Ghost Warrior series, head to SGWContracts.com.

call-of-duty-modern-warfareAn announcement on the Activision Blog that an all-new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, showcasing the military shooter’s single-player campaign, has been released. Here’s a bit from the blog…

On October 25th, when the world is threatened, you’ll have to get your hands dirty, so the world stays clean.

The Campaign engulfs you in a raw and gritty narrative, bringing unrivaled intensity and shining a light on the changing nature of modern war. Visceral and dramatic, the single-player campaign pushes boundaries and breaks rules. You will engage in covert operations alongside a diverse cast of international special forces and freedom fighters.

The stakes have never been higher: This is a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power. You will work with lethal Tier One Operators, including Bravo 6 himself – the iconic Captain John Price – sometimes within the grey area of their rules of engagement. Expect the Campaign gameplay to be reflexive and strategic, supporting the narrative through a variety of differing playstyles. These include close quarter, stealth missions, and long-range combat. Your tactical decision making will be put to the ultimate test.

In a desperate mission, Captain Price and the SAS will partner alongside the CIA and the Urzikstani Liberation Force to retrieve stolen chemical weapons. The fight will take you from London to the Middle East and other global locations, as this joint task force battles through betrayals, moral dilemmas, and no-win situations to stop full scale global war.

Learn more about the single-player campaign and the reveal of a new XRK Weapons Pack from today’s announcement HERE.

“Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” Live-Action Trailer
The live action sequences were shot in Vancouver, Canada, directed by David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2) and produced by Minted Content in Los Angeles. Ubisoft worked with San Francisco–based agency Argonaut on the development of the concept and overall creative direction and execution of the “Squad Up ft. Lil’ Wayne” campaign. “More than anything, the key point of all action is to tell a story, and in this spot we’re telling a story with these characters in the world of the game and also the characters in their worlds at home,” said David Leitch. “We wanted to make sure we have these distinct characters that jump off the page and that the action defines them in a real particular way. We have this fun juxtaposition with the different characters and their voices too, which is a great conceit.
