tannenberg-1914-1918The Wolf Truce returns – will you call a truce, or revel in the chaos?

A special historical event for WW1 shooter Tannenberg sees wolf packs join the fray!

When packs of hungry wolves invade your battlefield, how do you react? That’s the question Tannenberg’s limited time Wolf Truce event poses to players. Inspired by historical reports, the event will run until December 3rd. If wolves attack, players will be able to call a temporary truce to deal with them, or try and take advantage of the chaos as a third party joins the fray.

Check out the Wolf Truce trailer HERE.

Tannenberg Wolf Truce
Wolves are hunting human prey in the Wolf Truce event, which will run from November 26 until December 3. During regular Maneuver battles, players must be prepared for the chance of a pack of wolves invading their battlefield and throwing the frontlines into chaos. When this happens, players will have the chance to call a temporary truce and work together to fight off the wolves… if they can restrain themselves from attacking the enemy. The truce is not enforced by the game, and one careless shot or gung-ho soldier can break the fragile ceasefire.

Players who do manage to survive a wolf attack while maintaining the truce will get a special in-game medal! The event is inspired by historical texts which describe the dangers wolves could pose on the enormous Eastern Front. Russia had a substantial wolf population which was displaced by fighting, with consequences for soldiers and civilians alike. This is the second time the Wolf Truce is running, and a number of tweaks have improved how wolves enter the battlefield and track players, as well as making the UI more clear.

Historical Wolf Truce
It might seem outlandish, but the event is based on historical records. The report which has generated most attention and which comes up most often on the internet is this New York Times article, which describes an extraordinary truce to fight wolves – wolves so numerous and fearsome that machine guns and poison gas barely phased them! Of course wolves also appear in more local records – one Russian book (roughly translated as The History of Russia in Faces: Book Two) mentions a ceasefire to exterminate wolves, and talks about how dangerous displaced wolves could be to civilians. The presence of wolves during the Wolf Truce gives players a chance to make their own decision about whether to pause the battle to fight the wolves, or to press on with the threat of canine ambush all around.

Got any weekend plans? You do now: Modern Warfare latest game update going live today at 10AM PST introduces new maps and a new game mode to all platforms, for all players. Enjoy a mix of Multiplayer action that you can experience with all of your friends through crossplay.

Today’s release of free maps and a new mode is a precursor to upcoming in-game events, which will bring a ton of free content to players. Everyone can look forward to more celebrations like today along with major community events in support of Modern Warfare. Plus, in addition to new content dropping today, developer Infinity Ward is also releasing a number of quality of life, tuning and play balancing updates across the game.

Uniting The Community

Today’s release of free maps and a new mode is just the start. With the release of Modern Warfare, fans can play together through crossplay and cross progression, and look forward to a ton of new content and the start of live seasons coming free to all players on all platforms.

Additional Multiplayer Map Content

Two free maps are available now; a new traditional Multiplayer map, Shoot House, and a large Ground War map, Krovnik Farmland.

Additional Game Mode Content

Hardpoint

Capture and hold the zone to earn points for your team.

Race to secure and defend a specific “hardpoint” on the map, and then repel this zone from enemy incursions. Several times during the match, the hardpoint rotates to a different position around the map, so it’s worth learning the likely location of each hardpoint so you can react accordingly.

When your team is within the hardpoint, your teams’ score increases, though if none of your team have made it to the hardpoint, there are no points gained. A point is gained every second you or a team member (or a group of teammates) is present within the hardpoint. When your team reaches 250 points, you can claim victory.

sniper-ghost-warrior-contractsBullet (drop) to the head.

By David Jagneaux @ IGN

It seems weird to me that after about 20 years of military shooters, so few of them really focus on sniping. Plenty of movies have highlighted snipers as lethal and heroic soldiers, but very few game franchises go through the effort — with one of those few staples being Sniper Ghost Warrior. While Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was a major departure for the franchise by expanding things into an open-world setting, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts scales things back to a mission-based format once again.

call-of-duty-modern-warfareOver $600 Million sell-through in the game’s first three days

Source: Activision Blog

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare had more than $600 million in sell-through worldwide in its first three days of release. The title has sold more units in its first three days than any other Call of Duty game sold in its first three days in this console generation, and is the top-selling new premium game release of 2019. Modern Warfare also established a new record as the #1 top-selling digital opening in Activision history. With its blockbuster launch, in its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more than doubled the box office opening of Joker.

Modern Warfare set new records on the PlayStation Network for the highest digital pre-orders and highest three-day digital sales ever on PlayStation 4. Modern Warfare also has become the #1 top-selling Call of Duty PC launch ever, as opening weekend PC sales on Blizzard Battle.net were significantly up over last year.

Through the first three days, Modern Warfare has more total players and total hours played than any Call of Duty opening release in the last six years. More importantly, our players are having a great time playing,” said Rob Kostich, president, Activision. “Congratulations to Infinity Ward and all our teams involved on an incredible game and its spectacular launch. We also want to thank the community for your incredible support. The launch of Modern Warfare is only the start. There’s much more to come.

A post from Ubisoft explains a “radical and immersive” overhaul they are working on for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Word is: “In line with this vision and the feedback we received, we are working on a more radical and immersive version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We also want to let you tailor your experience to the way you want to enjoy the game, since freedom of choice has always been part of the Ghost Recon DNA.” Here’s their assessment of the current state of the game that introduces the plan:

Our first priority is to improve the technical state of the game. We know many players had a difficult time with game bugs and unexpected stability issues at launch and we are making every effort possible to address these issues as soon as we can.

With Title Update 1.0.2, released on October 15, our team made numerous improvements to the game, focusing on the most pressing issues that could be addressed in this timeframe. We are working on further improvements that will be coming soon with TU1.0.3 in mid-November, including fixes on the Drone deployment, on changing the fire rate, on NVGs blocking crosshairs and on the Mission Completion notification pop-up.

Title Update 1.0.3.1, coming around end-November, will include further improvements and updates on the most pressing community feedback.

call-of-duty-modern-warfareModern Warfare is the new Call of Duty to beat, despite parts of it feeling dated.

By Morgan Park @ PC Gamer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has sold itself as a return to the setting that “started it all.” It’s a snappy marketing line that tugs the nostalgic strings of fans who remember the magic of 2007, and it’s not entirely misleading. The warfare is once again modern and, yes, Captain Price is still your likeable squad dad. Yet it’s Modern Warfare’s moments of unfamiliarity that impressed me—rebuilt weapon handling, ambitious new multiplayer modes, and characters that aren’t the cookie-cutter operatives we’ve seen in the last decade.
