Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer Trailer Developers Commentary

There is something rather dark lurking at the centre of Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which just might make it the most mature offering this gaming franchise has seen in a while.

It’s not reinventing the series in terms of mechanics and structure by any means. Advanced Warfare looks, sounds and plays like its predecessor for the most part – the addition of jetpacks notwithstanding. The E3, Gamescom and more recent reveals have ticked the usual COD boxes: layered multiplayer, high octane campaign set-pieces and – this just in – the addition of a Survival mode similar to that in Modern Warfare 3.

And yet, on closer inspection, Advanced Warfare seems to be treading in far more nebulas moral terrain than its predecessors. In past entries in this series, players controlled Rangers, Marines, SAS thugs and Black Ops bagmen, but never at any time were they under the impression that the soldiers at the centre of the action weren’t the good guys. Advanced Warfare has no such safety net.

We’re a little under two months away from the launch of this year’s Call of Duty entry, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. And since it feels like no major game can come out and surprise people anymore, let’s delve into the game’s Achievement/Trophy list, because that’s been revealed today.

Speaking of Advanced Warfare’s campaign, don’t expect this one to be as short as its predecessors and end after 5-6 hours. Sledgehammer Games‘ first shot with the Call of Duty series’ campaign mode will apparently clock in with a longer playtime. Said Glen Schofield, studio head and co-founder of Sledgehammer, in response to a question on Twitter, this particular campaign is “coming in longer than the last few.”

Activision has released a new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer focused on the game’s sound design. According to the official blurb, the video goes behind the scenes with Sledgehammer Games audio director Don Veca, who details “an audio intelligence system that makes virtually every impact and explosion sound unique”. The latest behind the scenes video follows the recent release of Advanced Warfare facial animation and futuristic tech trailers.

Sledgehammer’s first solo entry in the shooter series is said to be set in a plausible future, specifically the year 2054, and stars Kevin Spacey as main antagonist Jonathan Irons. The Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare release date is November 4 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC.

A new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer diary has been released, showing off the game’s animation and face capture technology. Animations director Christopher Stone and art director Joe Salud discuss how the developer has done “whatever it took to make the game look as photo realistic as possible”. The Sledgehammer developed shooter is said to be set in a plausible future, specifically the year 2054, and stars Kevin Spacey as main antagonist Jonathan Irons.
