World of Warships

10 British cruisers can now fight for Queen and Country

The Royal Navy may have been on the horizon for some time, but now the branch of 10 British light cruisers are finally ready to set sail. Agile and stealthy vessels like Minotaur and Edinburgh will definitely go down a treat for fans who like to strike hard and fast in World of Warships.

Swans may be protected by the Queen, but she won’t save you when you start sailing up the Tech Tree in the Tier I Black Swan. At Tier VI, Leander is ready to fulfill your fantasies of reclaiming the British Empire. Also, remember to queue properly as you work your way towards Edinburgh at Tier VIII.

Finally, at Tier X, you can butt heads with other ocean beasts in the powerful Minotaur. She was the epitome of design for light cruisers at the beginning of the postwar period. In addition to her compact dimensions, maneuverability, and low detectability, this cruiser boasts an amazing firing rate, and her dual-purpose guns provide a superior AA engagement area radius. Also, who can forget that a formidable advantage of the Royal Navy is their torpedoes? They have the option to fire singularly from multiple tube launchers. Make sure you get the most out these legends.

“The Royal Navy has such a rich history and we’ve had our sights set on including her line in the game for a while,” said Artur Plociennik, World of Warships Global Publishing Producer. “Because we respect its history so much, we wanted to ensure we had every detail down, to create an exceptional player experience.”

The Royal Navy consists of agile, stealthy vessels, making them perfect for rushing headlong into objectives, while singing “Rule, Britannia”. They are excellent at hunting destroyers, and their low detectability and rapid-firing guns make them efficient in encounters with more “neutral” cruisers. Combine this with their excellent torpedo armament and the smoke screen ability, and you’ll be able to punch a hole through well-armored foes.

Lastly, players who have reached Account Level 4 in the game will find containers with some mystery booty inside. All you have to do to haul up these treasures is simply play the game. Now, stick the kettle on, whip out the scones, and take a British cruiser for a spin.

wargaming-net-logoTake your tank to the sea, warship to the Jacuzzi, and shoot pool on the Moon

April Fool’s Day is generally celebrated by playing a good-natured practical joke, an amusing hoax, or, in Wargaming’s case, an entire parade of special in-game events created for its passionate community.

In “Moon Mayhem” (April 1 – 5) World of Tanks PC establishes its first colony on the Moon. Why? Because why not? In this event, you command the latest weapon in spherical tank technology: the IS 8-BALL. In your space-age vehicle, you must knock other commanders on the “Crater” map into one of several billiard-type holes.

Of course, we’re on the Moon, which means less gravity. You’ll find that IS 8-BALL feels a little different than a regular tank. That’s because it’s so smooth. With less friction, various in-game hazards, like Meteor Showers and strange gravitational anomalies, this mode offers an out of this world experience. To play, all you have to do is enter your Garage, choose the IS 8-Ball and click the Battle! button. You will be added to a special queue with other players who have also selected the event vehicle.

April Fool’s Day in World of Warships (March 31—April 11) exchanges the high seas for hot tubs in the special “Ruinberg In Jacuzzi” map. Take charge of the captain’s boat from the animated series “Bad Advice” and battle other players in a not-so-relaxing hot tub. All you have to do is start the game and search your Port for the 4 types of vessels available: the Pokeboat (JP), Botishkaff (RU), Das Boot (DE) and Bottlesheep (US). Choose whichever ship you take a fancy to, then click the Battle! button.

Each ship sports a Fish captain at the helm, stylized with the nation of its ship. When the little boat is bobbing in your port, a 3D model of “Bad Captain” will be visible on the ship. While the captain lacks a bikini, you can hear some of his trademark sounds from the show. Why not stick your toe in the water?

We have something for everyone this April Fools’ Day, so make sure you don’t miss out!

worldofwarships-logoWargaming today announced the new battle type “Team Battles” for World of Warships will set sail in Update 0.5.3. This new battle type, which unlocks at account level 12, lets captains create an elite squadron of players, work with them to sharpen their skills, and then set out to decimate their opponents and rule the waves.

Taking the prestige of World of Warship’s naval combat to a new level, Team Battles are the domain of certain tier vessels, consisting of 7-vs-7 skirmishes. Players can have up to 10 people in their team (with three in reserve). They can also be recruited for up to three teams simultaneously, so there is always a new Team Battles waiting on the horizon. Team Battles will only be available during “prime time,” a necessary restriction to ensure a competitive number of players are all in the queue.

“The fans have been asking for more forms of team interaction since we started developing World of Warships,” said Danny Volkov, World of Warships Development Director, Wargaming. “With Team Battles, we’ve listened to their feedback and created an arena where they can meet teammates, forge their perfect squad and take on intense battles with top players in their region.”

On a team’s journey to become the dominating force of the seas, they will advance through a number of leagues, battling towards a common objective, to improve their ranking. Through Team Battles, captains get their fill of high-level skirmishes and truly take their skills to the next level.

Dynamic, exclusive anime-inspired game mode coming to World of Warships

The battle-torn oceans in World of Warships are getting new and unique in-game content inspired by the naval-themed sci-fi anime “ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL –ARS NOVA-”. This new mode is set to arrive soon, bringing with it special missions, skins for vessels styled on the anime, and more.

These series of missions will offer players great rewards modelled on the hi-tech reincarnations of warships featured in “ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL –ARS NOVA-”. Captains can take the helm of Kongo-class battleships from the series, as well as other vessels that will be added in the future.

If that’s not cool enough, these unique vessels feature Mental Models (humanoid AI avatars) from the show as their commander and will appear with their special, designated vessels. The actual voiceover actress of the main heroine “Iona” has been recruited to lend her talent, calling out battle actions. Finally, players will also be able to select a special “ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL –ARS NOVA-”-themed port to dock their Blue Steel fleet.

worldofwarships-logoDiscover new maps, tackle a new game mode, and reap greater rewards in Ranked Battles

Wargaming is excited to announce update 0.5.1 for World of Warships will go live on November 5 in North America and on November 6 in Asia, the CIS and EU. This update brings a boatload of great content including three new maps—with the very first night map—a brand new game mode “Zone”, and further improvements.

Three new maps for World of Warships are set to test players’ skills by plunging them into new and exciting waters. For the very first time, commanders will find “Northern Lights”, a reimagining of a once-familiar locale, doused in darkness and the spectacle of the Aurora Borealis. New maps include “Land of Fire”, inspired by South America and “The Trap”, which is modelled on the fierce battles between U.S. and Japanese fleets, complete with an active volcano.

The new game mode “Zone” pits opposing teams in contention of one giant base in the middle of a map. However, this base only becomes available for capture two minutes into the battle. With “Zone”, players will have to reevaluate their old tactics and techniques, trading off the vulnerability of open waters for glory. Also in update 0.5.1 are various additions and enhancements such as “Events”, “Challenges”, “Missions, and “Daily Missions”.

Ranked Battles now feature even more rewards in the form of flags to deck out a vessel and make it the envy of others on the high seas. Also for those still finding their sea legs, Introductory Missions have been added with a tutorial to help commanders develop their tactical skills and strengthen their grasp of the game.

worldofwarships-logoDiscover new vessels to unlock, upgrade, and master

In the wake of World of Warships’ release just over a month ago, captains can now get behind the helm of vessels from two distinct nations: Germany and the Soviet Union.

On the horizon for the German fleet are Dresden and Hermelin cruisers, swift vessels capable of running rings around opponents. If that’s not enough, this new line of German cruisers boast great endurance—especially as players progress up the Tech Tree—along with solid armor and powerful guns.

The Soviet Tech Tree is ready to make some waves with Izyaslav, Gnevny and Tashkent destroyers—plus many more. These vessels are the sharpshooters of the sea; easily picking off targets from afar with their hard-hitting canons and superb accuracy. Soviet destroyers are also extremely rapid making them a hard target to scuttle. When adding their strong anti-aircraft armaments and rapid turret rotation into the mix, players have a set of devastating attack runners on their hands.
