Update 0.9.5 brings revamped Dockyard mechanics allowing players to build two German ships at the same time, as well as updates to the Soviet Cruiser branch

World of Warships will see today the release of Update 0.9.5, allowing industrious players to construct two German ships: VI Admiral Graf Spee and VIII Odin, directly within Hamburg Port Dockyard. The new update will also see a number of changes to the Soviet Cruiser branch, as well as bringing two new premium ships: Siegfried and Ägir.

A trailer for Update 0.9.5 can be viewed HERE.

The updated Dockyard mechanic is the main feature of Update 0.9.5, and allows players to construct the VI Admiral Graf Spee in “War Paint” camouflage, as well as obtain the VIII Odin heavily discounted upon completion. This ship’s construction is spread out across 20 shipbuilding phases of which 18 can be finished by completing Directives. The remaining two phases can be settled by spending Doubloons.

The Soviet Cruiser branch will see a number of changes, including the Tier X Moskva becoming a heavy cruiser obtainable by spending the in-game Coal resource. Moskva’s place in the tech tree will be taken by the light cruiser Tier X Alexander Nevsky. The Tier V Kirov becomes a premium ship with the Tier V Kotovsky replacing her as a light cruiser.

The Tier X Moskva will move up from being a light cruiser to a heavy cruiser, and as such, become a special ship, obtainable by spending the in-game Coal resource.

Update 0.9.5 also revamps the Armory interface by improving navigation between menus and combat mission d sections, and adding the possibility to preview ships and camouflages in the Port. The interface has also been updated, including the addition of new challenging “OR” conditions. This allows players to choose their own path in fulfilling mission objectives and getting rewards, for instance being able to select between earning 10,000 Base XP “or” to destroy 10 enemy ships.

Furthermore, from June 24 to July 6, the Twelfth Ranked Sprint will take place. It will be fought in an 8vs8 format, playing Tier VIII ships in Domination mode. Two new Clan Brawls will also be available.

European Destroyers event brings five powerful new ships to early access in update 0.9.2, as well as Småland destroyer, together with new Scandinavian port and other gameplay changes

World of Warships is making itself ready for the deployment of new, powerful Swedish destroyers, five into early access while the Småland being the first Tier X available for Free XP, with the launch of a new European Destroyers event in today’s update 0.9.2. The new ships launch together with a new port – Fjords – which is inspired by the dramatic landscapes of Scandinavia.

A new World of Warships trailer can be viewed HERE.

The new Tier V-IX destroyers’ main feature will be their fast, long-range torpedoes, allowing them to strike the opponent from far away. The ships don’t have access to the Smoke Generator consumable, a lack which is compensated by their rather low detectability, as well as the Repair Party consumable. As Swedish destroyers, the Visby (Tier V), Västerås (Tier VI), Skåne (Tier VII), Öland (Tier VIII), Östergötland (Tier IX), represent their nation for the first time in World of Warships, with the new destroyers forming part of the European line.

Players eager to try out the new Swedish destroyers can find them in special ship’s bundles, which can be acquired by spending European tokens, a temporary resource. The tokens can be found in containers. Special missions will become available after a player has received the ships in early access, granting additional rewards such as unique ship camouflages.

The most remarkable feature of the new Swedish destroyers is their lightning-fast long-range torpedoes,” said Philip Molodkovets, Executive Producer for World of Warships. “Players who appreciate swift, action-packed gameplay will also find a good use for their rapid-firing guns and Repair Party consumable. And while they’re carrying out torpedo runs or engaging in close-range fighting with other destroyers, a good AA defense –with the Defensive AA Fire consumable on high tiers– will help them fend off enemy planes. The rather unusual absence of a Smoke Generator is compensated by alternative self-defense tools and pretty good concealment.

In update 0.9.2, the thickness of cruiser and battleship armor plating has also been updated, as well as the Inertia fuse for HE Shells skill. Due to changes to the penetration mechanics, cruisers can penetrate the armor of cruisers in the same tier without using the Inertia Fuse for HE Shells skill. The changes will make inter-class interaction between cruisers more logical, while the updated armor plating will make cruisers, if they are positioned wisely, more resistant to battleship salvos.

The update will also include two Clan Brawls, and continues to improve the visuals in four maps and three ports which are being reworked to accommodate the new lightning model while taking full advantage of the latest in enhanced HDR technology.

European line gets major boost with new Tier III-X destroyers from Swedish navy, as well as Austrian-Hungarian Tier II destroyer and Polish Tier I cruiser

World of Warships welcomes a major influx of new researchable European ships to its supertest environment today, allowing them to be tweaked and receive balance adjustments before their full deployment to the popular navy combat game in the future.

The new Tier II-X destroyers, a special Tier X destroyer, as well as the Tier I cruiser in the European line represent not only the introduction of a sizable in-game force of Swedish warships but also the Austrian-Hungarian and Polish navies, bringing with them their own set of unique gameplay mechanics and features.

The new ships available in today’s supertest session are:

  • The Swedish navy destroyers Romulus (Tier III), Klas Horn (Tier IV), Visby (Tier V), Västerå (Tier VI), Skåne (Tier VII), Öland (Tier VIII), Östergötland (Tier IX), and the Halland and Småland (Tier X).
  • The Tier I Cruiser Gryf from the Polish navy.
  • Tier II destroyer Tatra from the Austrian-Hungarian navy.

The new ships in the European line bring their own specific characteristics and playstyles, such as:

  • They carry very fast torpedoes with long range but low damage.
  • The artillery is similar to American destroyers, being quite effective in close combat, but weaker than those of dedicated artillery-focused destroyers.
  • The Tier VII to X destroyers have a relatively low top speed which can be increased by an Engine Boost consumable.
  • Starting from Tier VII, the AA defense of European destroyers has a larger area of effect and deals good damage.
  • Starting from Tier VIII, the new ships are equipped with Surveillance Radar with an action time of 15 seconds and a range of up to 7.5 km.
  • The ships lack a Smoke Generator but have a relatively high detection range. When engaging in combat with other destroyers, it’s better to rely on the Surveillance Radar and fast torpedoes.
  • Starting from Tier V, the destroyers are equipped with the Repair Party consumable.
