SDOE Mission Making Tutorial - Part 2

More Ideas For Your Own Missions
Well, as much as I'd like to give you an endless list of actual mission scenarios, I do want to save these for myself. Really, good mission premises arent that hard to come up with, especially with all the new planes that have been released. One thing I can say is try to be unique. People have already bombed the ball bearing factory---oh, I would say about 300 times. One of the well-used online missions thats a little different is one in which you have to try and shoot down Hitler while he is being taking aloft in a Ju88. There is the Ju88 with Hitler and the one thats just a decoy. Its appeal as a mission is that it's unique.

Read pilot accounts. They did all kinds of crazy stuff back then. When youre making a unique mission tell the players to get into character and keep their mouths' shut. Why? So players dont give away any secrets of the mission to the other side or even to players in other squads on their own side. Make the mission briefing extra-detailed so there is no confusion and if you host make sure everyone reads the briefs.

What if you make a mistake or leave something out? Well, one of the really crazy things that happens with this game is that if you do that, someone else will go and make it so that it works right or just so that it works to their particular taste. How many games allow you to customize objects and missions at that level?

Thats going to pack a HUGE punch!
