MechWarrior 4
By Raul “Datajack” RodriguezCSIM: The game includes a Mission Builder. How robust is it? Is it the same one that the mission designers at Microsoft used to create the packaged missions? Will the player have the ability to create their own campaigns by linking a set of missions together? Also, will users have the ability to create their own maps?
Mike: The same mission builder used by the designers will be released to the public. This will allow our user base to create wonderful Campaign and Multiplayer missions. Statistics will be scored and recorded for each mission allowing savvy users to link missions together for tournaments. We are excited to see the mission types created by the existing and future BattleTech Leagues once they get a hold of these tools.
CSIM: You state the interface is simpler and that MW4 provides more tactical options. Could you elaborate on both of these statements?
Mike: The complexity of the game, including the dynamic mission structure, multiple lancemate control, and Mech creation are still flexible allowing the greatest user control.
We have streamlined the UI to allow intuitive operation through the shell and during the missions. Not only can you create a long-range specialist, but you can choose to drop a greater distance from the enemy to increase your advantage. We have organized these options in a superior fashion allowing greater use of the features that are there.
