F4 Screens and Wallpaper | ||||
After running the F4 alpha for a few hours I realized I could run at very high resolutions under Direct3d, one of the few advantages of D3d over Voodoo2's native Glide API. I cranked up the resolution running under my Matrox Mystique G200 (PII 300) for your viewing pleasure! I was more than a bit surprised to find a frame rate of 14-17 fps in the Alpha at 1152x864! This should be even higher in the F4 master. On my P200 with Voodoo1 running under Glide I was around 17 fps at 640x480. Support will be in place for 800x600 on release, and 1024x768 under Voodoo2 and Glide. If Glide 3 support makes it into F4 the frame rate should be well over 30fps at that resolution on a PII. I was especially surprised that F4 looks almost the same to me under D3d as under Glide. WOW, Direct3d has come a long way! If you would enjoy having some new wallpaper for your desktop click on any image for its larger counterpart. The first set of shots below are taken at 1152x864. The second set on the right side of the page are taken at 1600x1280 and may take a few seconds for you to load!
