Month: March 2016

fallout4-logoFallout 4’s first add-on, Automatron, is almost here, and we’re excited to share the official trailer with you today.

Automatron will be available for download across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, March 22.

In Automatron, the mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! (For characters level 15 or higher.)

Automatron marks the first add-on release for Fallout 4. In April, we’re expanding the capabilities of settlements with Wasteland Workshop, and in May, travel beyond the Commonwealth to Maine for Far Harbor – the largest landmass Bethesda Game Studios has ever created for post-release content. And, that’s just the beginning, with even more add-ons to be released in 2016. Stay tuned for more details on free updates like Survival Mode and the Creation Kit, which will allow you to create mods on the PC and then share and play them across all platforms, including consoles.

NVIDIA over the weekend, released the GeForce 364.51 WHQL drivers. These drivers address a critical bug in the company’s previous WHQL-signed GeForce 364.47 WHQL driver, which causes the installer to crash the system with a BSOD/TDR error during “express” install. The bug was so severe, that it forced NVIDIA to pull the driver off its website. The rest of this driver’s feature-set appears to be consistent with that of the 364.47 WHQL.

You can download the new GeForce 364.51 WHQL drivers from GeForce Experience and GeForce.com.

heliborneBy Alex Connolly @ The Wargamer

Heliborne has officially hit Steam Early Access. With the latest patch, I felt it was time to drop the collective, putting skid to pad to see what’s going on with JetCat Games’ tilt for World of Flying Tanks.

Though enthralled by my time in the pre-alpha, the then-minuscule player population offered a sporadic glimpse at what Heliborne was selling. Freshly deployed and on active duty in Early Access, population boom across the three-strong servers – EU, US Central and SE Asia/Oceania, at the time of writing – makes the ten bone purchase argument far more convincing. A full-blown Heliborne match, with its unique sense of territory control, speaks for itself.

If you’re chasing a more detailed look at just what Heliborne is, do have a goosey at our pre-alpha coverage. In a nutshell, this is an excellent use of the modern “World of [insert romantic hardware]“, and perhaps one of the more nuanced of its ilk. Featuring a simucade feel, aiming to capture the revolutionary flexibility and fragility of the war whirlybird, Heliborne is as much a ground game as it is one of the air. It has an intimacy where others don’t. Each sortie an exercise in grazing ridgelines and hugging rivers; dancing between the snarl of AA tracers and coming in hot under rocketry to snatch bases with a bellyload of troops.

rising-storm2-vietnam-logoHot off the heels of this past weekend’s PC Gamer Weekender event, Tripwire Interactive has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming first person tactical shooter, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The sequel to the smash hit Rising Storm, PC Gamer’s 2013 ‘Multiplayer Game of the Year’, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam will be published by Tripwire Interactive, and is being developed by Antimatter Games, the same team that created the award-winning innovative asymmetric gameplay of the original Rising Storm.

Today’s brand new trailer, Boots on the Ground, reveals the very first in-game footage for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The realistic gameplay footage will pull players directly into intense authentic gunplay and visceral first-person action in this brutal recreation of the Vietnam War. Through the lush, but dangerous jungles, to firefights in the streets, across the rolling hills, entrenched deep in the rice fields and even into US Firebases, the environments are as treacherous as they are massive. Choosing sides as either the US forces or the Vietnamese resistance forces, players will experience intense tactical action with up to 64 players in battles, with each force having their own unique abilities and tactical advantages such as Napalm Strikes, Artillery Barrages, surface-to-air missile strikes, traps, ambushes and more.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is developed by Antimatter Games and published by Tripwire Interactive for PC and is slated for release in 2016. This title has not yet been rated by the ESRB, but Tripwire Interactive anticipates a rating of “M” for Mature.

Stay up-to-date with the latest Rising Storm 2: Vietnam news and information at the games official website.

days-of-warOnline WWII shooter built in UE4 gives players the power to create like never before

Fallout 4 delivered detailed in-game base building content but lacked the depth of multiplayer. Minecraft gave us an immensely collaborative multiplayer experience but with only very basic building blocks. Imagine a game that combined the best of both. Detailed building content in a collaborative multiplayer environment.

Days of War wants to give players both, then give them the option to make their creations functional in an online WWII shooter.

Everyone has their favorite scene from Enemy at the Gates, Saving Private Ryan, or Band of Brothers: a sniper perched in a clock tower, a hedgerow of artillery in Belgium, the tight alleys of Carentan. It’s great fun to play in these historic settings, but Driven Arts believes it’s just as much fun to build them.

Days of War invites WWII shooter fanatics to join up with their friends and construct their favorite battle scenes, then play them out in the style of classic competitive shooters like Medal of Honor, Day of Defeat, Enemy Territory, and Call of Duty 1 & 2.

The success of Minecraft, Mario Maker, or the base builder in Fallout 4 can all be attributed to player creation being accessible and central to gameplay. It’s given your average player a taste for how fun it is to be a part of building the game you play.

George Rivara, Lead Developer, states, “We’ve seen our friends’ imaginations go wild using the Fallout 4 base builder – building massive and detailed structures just for the fun of it. But after putting in all that hard work into building a base, all you can really do is stand back and admire it. A base is meant to be attacked, and a base is meant to be defended. So we thought, ‘What if we make building as easy as Fallout 4, then give you the ability to share your creations and actually play them with your friends? “

“Players will be able to build the same caliber of maps that we can in UE4, without ever entering an engine or tedious editor, lowering the barriers to being a creator. The best creations will be featured to the entire community. But if players just want to design a private HQ for their clan to hang out in and practice on the shooting range, they also have the freedom to do that.” – Lee Snodgrass, Designer

After a decade of players clamoring and even signing petitions for big studios to bring back the classic shooter style, Days of War will be available to for testing this Spring and coming to early access this Summer if successfully funded. Days of War brings with it cutting edge visuals and a powerful in-game player content creation system, all thanks to Unreal Engine 4.

Availability and platforms:
Days of War will join the first batch of shooters built on Unreal Engine 4 in 2016, releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One– Pre-Orders are available now through Kickstarter.

A number of videos are available on the Days of War Kickstarter page. You can find the official Days of War website here.

Upgraded physics and improved sound making tank warfare even more visceral, taking the player experience up a notch

Wargaming is excited to announce today the release of update 9.14 for World of Tanks. This update introduces improved sound and physics, making tank warfare even more visceral, as well as 24 pristine HD models, and a new map for Rampage mode: Ravaged Capital.

Improved physics lets players immerse themselves further into dynamic battles, with vehicles handling more realistically than before. Commanders can master skillfully sharp turns, rapidly changing direction and controlling their tank’s turning radius during movement. In addition, vehicles are now more maneuverable, letting players take full advantage of agile tanks in their arsenal.

Update 9.14 also introduces significantly improved sound. In harnessing the new sound engine, Audiokinetic Wwise, commanders can hear every purr and roar of their steel beast as it roams the battlefield. With sound being processed on a separate core, there are between 10 and 30 distinct sound sources, recorded from authentic vehicles on real proving grounds. When adding enhanced sound effects to orientate players in battle into the mix, as well as original event sounds, and multiple sound presets, World of Tanks adds another layer of authenticity to the gameplay experience.

“The major improvements to sound and physics in update 9.14 have been highly-anticipated by our fans,” said Sergey Laptenok, Publishing Product Director, World of Tanks. “All this was made possible with feedback from players, and we have delivered an experience that brings them closer to the action than ever before.”

Commanders can also look forward to 24 HD models of some of their favorite vehicles. Those who have been battling in the intense Rampage mode can also learn to dominate the new map, Ravaged Capital, which drops players in the heart of Paris’s warzone during World War II.

New Details About Upcoming Map Along With Results From The Mercenary Showdown

Developer Obsidian Entertainment and global publisher My.com announce today more information about the update 0.14 coming this month. Highwall, a strip mine, is the newest map available for tank commanders to square off on in PvP. This new map will allow for players to take strategic positions to destroy enemy vehicles from above, before swooping down winding paths to assault the pits and achieve team victory!

Check out the latest Armored Warfare video here.

Watch the Armored Warfare video here.

Highwall spans 1200 x 1200 meters in size and takes place completely within an industrial strip mine. Machinery and heavy equipment dot the landscape, precariously perched at the edge of open quarries in order to harvest rich gold veins, manganese, and uranium ore deposits. The routes presented in Highwall often have diverging paths – opening up key opportunities for players to flank their enemies and overrun a route from several directions.

Additional features coming with update 0.14:

  • Replaying a recording of a match will allow players to view everything from the perspective of the replay creator. Players can pause, play, or stop their recording, as well as increase or decrease the speed at which they want the match to replay. Additionally, players can spectate specific vehicles or seamlessly switch into a free-cam observer mode.
  • Operations Frostbite, Albatross, and Cerberus will pose new threats for players teaming up in Armored Warfare’s co-operative gameplay mode.
  • Based upon player feedback, a number of unpopular elements of high-tier gameplay will be addressed. Details will be fully disclosed at the launch of update 0.14.

You can download the game for free and get more information at the official Armored Warfare website.
