The Ultimate Homebrewed Cockpit

This is the right side console. You can see from the image that things in here really are still in pretty good shape. That diamond pattern you see behind the console is the original insulation. It's mostly intact and there was no visible rot in the areas that I inspected. The lever at the upper left of the image is the canopy release handle. It's also used to close, lock and pressurize the canopy.
At the bottom of the image, you can see some of the existing wiring that I mentioned earlier.
