Simulated Future
By Nigel Doyle

Back To Reality

There are certain aspects in the afore mentioned scenario that can actually be experienced today by simply flying on line with one of the virtual squadrons that exist on the net.

I believe, however, that until standards like DS are developed, a lot of the previous mission details will simply remain unreachable. It is the long term prospect I am looking at, indeed if things keep going the way they are then who knows what will happen in the foreseeable future.

Will there actually be any serious simulators in development a year from now? Who knows? One thing is for certain: current trends are seeing more and more software developers dropping out of the serious simulation market, often quoting reasons that have been previously mentioned in this article.

In this article I have asked a lot of questions, some remain unanswered. Proposed is my possible solution to the current situation the software industry and serious simulator community finds itself in.

Whether developers will respond and say that I am living in the realms of fantasy, or act on my ideas, I do not know. All PC gaming is fantasy, so I put the ball firmly in their court and await their response.
