Saitek X36 Digital HOTAS

After installation, I rebooted the computer only to have an error in Windows. I rebooted again and entered Windows in safe mode. Checking the registry, I noticed the Saitek Auto-Configure executable was being called before my ScanRegistry, SystemTry, and TaskMonitor. I selected the string value "SaitekAutoConfigure" and renamed it to "zSaitekAutoConfigure." This modification forced the string value to load last, eliminating the boot to Windows errors.
How do you program this thing? The SGE programming interface is embedded in the Windows Explorer. There is a new folder called "Saitek Gaming Extensions."
In this folder, are two Wizards (the New Game Wizard and the Import Game Wizard.) With these Wizards, you can create your Profiles for various simulations. I have created two Profiles for the simulations I'm currently enjoying. |
Each Profile folder has a Command List subfolder and Saitek X36 Flight Controller subfolder. If you click on the Command List subfolder you can view, edit, and create commands that can be assigned to the controller later. The Saitek X36 Flight Controller subfolder is where all the fun happens. This folder brings up a 3D view of the X36 HOTAS. The selected device is in the foreground with the other in the background.
They can easily be exchanged by clicking on the device in the background and it will come to the front. To program a button, just click on it and it will highlight blue. Right click on the button and select properties. From there, you can select the button function for different modes and create a new command for that button if it's not in the Command List. I prefer this method of creating files when compared to using the Command List subfolder to make them individually. Go to Part III
