CH Products Combatstick

Game Center is the programming software for all CH USB gear, and I downloaded the May 5th release. Programming is simplicity itself by just clicking on the button you wish to reference and then pressing the key or keyboard combination you need to emulate. Placement of buttons is nice and the stick functioned perfectly. But as a SUNCOM and TM user I found the stick far too light in resistance. If you haven't used these stiffer products you might never notice the difference, of course. Recommendations While this stick is NOT a 3d stick like Saitek's Cyborg, comparisons are inevitable at this price point. The Cyborg is more programmable and also has rudder action. As a stand alone unit the Combatstick fares much better than the SUNCOM Flight Controller USB, though the SUNCOM stick feels a little nicer to me. But the Combatstick will double its functions when added to the USB Pro Throttle. Which to choose? I suggest that if you plan to add the separate throttle, the Combatstick is the way to go for now. When SUNCOM releases their own USB throttle, the outcome may be different. |
Game Center Software Reliability, ease of programming, excellent support.. CH is a solid company making solid products. The Combatstick is not meant to be the stand alone unit that the Cyborg represents, comparing more readily to Thrustmaster's Millennium or Top Gun Platinum. As CH continues their migration to USB I'm looking forward to the new Pro Throttle and pedals. USB has finally arrived!
