THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL RELEASE. HASBRO TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT THIS EXECUTABLE. The only support that this executable will receive is the FAQ at www.ibeta.com. iBeta will try to keep it as current and informative as possible. You can download this new executable HERE or at iBeta.com. Simply place this new exe file in your MICROPROSE/FALCON4 folder. It can coexist in that folder with the 108us EXE - no problem. Simply make a desktop shortcut to each, and run the one you want to play. You CAN NOT connect the two unlike versions in multiplayer. They simply will not connect. That was coded in to avoid unlike versions from accidentally playing together. And frankly, when you play multiplayer, you are going to want to play version 108i. Its stability and performance in multiplayer is much improved over 108us. |
1) Multiplayer in all modules (Dogfight, TE, and Campaign) is now much more stable. It is fair to say that 95% of the multiplayer crashes have been eliminated, and many on iBeta can tell you that they have played many sequential missions without a crash to desktop. 2) A bug in the 108us release prevented TE missions that were built in 108us from being played multiplayer. This is now fixed. Any mission that was built in 1.08us needs only to be opened in the new 1.08i release and re-saved. It will fix the mission to be playable multiplayer. 3) In campaign, 108us fixed a bug that finally allowed you to bomb a runway or a bridge etc, and it would no longer be instantly repaired. Unfortunately, it also would never be repaired. Ever. Version 1.08i will now repair runways in 12-36 hours, and will repair bridges, radars etc. also in appropriate time frames. Further more, these repairs will also be reflected in multiplayer games. 4) Other causes of crashes to desktop were also fixed in this version.
