The Onramp to F4Plus:
A Guide to Patching Falcon, One Stitch at a Time
By Bob "Groucho" MarksClick on "Apply Changes", and you are set! Note that since you are running the RP3 executable, there is no need to check the "(108i2) iBETA "Realism Patch v3.0" box.
OK, now that you have the basics, there are a couple of additional patches that I highly recommend you apply:
- If you are using a non-Voodoo graphics card (running D3D and not Glide), apply the F4Turbo patch in the "DirectX Proxies" folder. Running a GeForce or TNT? You've GOT to have this patch.
- If you have a Force Feedback joystick, you can enable it in F4Patch.
- Enable Fly/Task any plane if you want to, well, fly any plane . . .
- . . .and if you are going to do that, load the new flight model patches
- Fuel Plug for External Tanks can help keep you from coming up short in the go-juice department
The rest is up to you. A very cool part of F4Patch is the ability to read a description of the function of a patch as it's selected, thereby making it easier to customize F4 to your personal tastes and system capacity. Experimentation is the key here. Some new welcome additions worth trying out that are included in F4Patch v2.11 include the ability to select revised flight models, sounds, and the full release version of Merlin's B-1B cockpit!
