Combat Flight Simulator 2 - Part II
By Jim TittleCSIM: Keeping in mind some of the "green kids," or first time combat Sim buyers, are flight models downward adjustable?
Tucker: Yes. We want CFS2 to be a game that enthusiasts can enjoy, but we really want to include the neophyte, as well. With as few air combat Sims as are coming out now, it seems critical to try to build the number of enthusiasts, and a big part of that is getting new people to learn to enjoy the game.
Between adjusting the levels of quality of the AI you face and adjusting the overall difficulty of the game and flight model, we aim to include a fairly broad spectrum of users.
CSIM: Considering the previous question, did your team consult with any ace pilots to model characteristics for more realistic flight for the hardened combat Sim experts?
Tucker: We consulted with both Joe Foss and Saburo Sakai, as well as some local WWII pilots. They've given us a lot of great information about the aircraft and even more about procedures and what it was like to be a pilot in the war.
With the local pilots, we've even had the opportunity to sit down with them several times to discuss specific issues that we had questions on. We've tried to use as much of that and what we've gotten from period military documents, to enhance every aspect of the game.
